The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update for Monday, August 24, teases that some shockers are in store. At the penthouse, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) is sleeping on the sofa when Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) walks in.
Chelsea admits she just dropped Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) off a school, so Adam’s irked that Chelsea let him sleep so late.
Chelsea argues that Adam needed it since he was pacing all night. Adam insists that every time he closes his eyes, he’s trying to repeat all the mental exercises Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) gave him.
Chelsea doesn’t think Adam can rush this memory retrieval process. “Patience has never been my thing,” Adam admits.
At the cottage, Sharon’s grateful to Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) for breakfast in bed earlier and has no plans. Sharon admits she overdid it yesterday, but she was so close to a breakthrough with Adam.
Rey’s worried about Sharon and makes her promise she won’t move off that couch. He’s glad Sharon doesn’t have a session with Adam today.
At Society, Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) doesn’t know how Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) gets up and started on his day so early. They joke around, but Nate has to get to the clinic.
Amanda stays behind to do some work for Chancellor Communications and mentions Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) spending the whole day with his kids.
Meanwhile, Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) visits the clinic and mentions potentially getting Nate to cover Elena Dawson’s (Brytni Sarpy) shift so they could get away for a few days. Elena thinks she can turn to someone else; she wouldn’t want to take advantage of Nate since he’s at the clinic so much already.
Once Nate arrives later, Elena can tell he’s been with Amanda. Nate insists they had breakfast together and that’s all. Back with Devon, he spots Amanda at Society. They talk business and Devon admits Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) would love Amanda and how tenacious she is.
Devon agrees to join Amanda at her table, so they discuss Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) as well as Nate. Amanda doesn’t think Nate’s social life is suffering because of his work, so Devon asks if everything is good with them.
Amanda admits it’s new and she doesn’t know where things are headed – as if anyone ever really knows where things are headed.
Devon gets a bit somber over that, so Amanda worries she’s put her foot in her mouth. “The last thing I would ever want to do is remind you of Hilary,” Amanda says. “OK, I don’t think that’s possible, but…”
Devon replies as they both burst into laughter. Amanda guesses it was a dumb thing to say, but Devon has gotten used to Amanda and her familiar face. It doesn’t bother Devon anymore.
Devon talks about Amanda dating Genoa City’s most eligible bachelor, which means her private life isn’t so private now. Amanda thinks maybe that title should belong to billionaire Devon! “Well, I’m taken,” Devon insists. “I’m happily taken.”
Devon wants that same kind of happiness for Nate. He knows Amanda is responsible for that pep in Nate’s step.
At Crimson Lights, Billy runs into Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle). Victoria updates Billy on making Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) her COO, so they talk about the formidable Newman women – including their little kindergarten overachiever.
Katie Abbott (Sienna Mercuri) was disappointed about missing school because of teacher development day.
Billy thinks Katie could use more Daddy-daughter time and intends to go pick her up. Victoria’s surprised since Chance Comm just acquired Newman’s media division. She figured Billy would have a million things to do.
Billy snaps that he won’t apologize for wanting to spend time with his daughter. If Victoria wants to turn this as an excuse for him being irresponsible, Billy invites her to go right ahead.
Back at the penthouse, Adam’s asleep again and thinking about what happened on the farm. “Get out of my house!” Hope Wilson shouts. “Not until I get my money!” AJ Montalvo snarls back.
Adam tosses and turns in distress. He recalls AJ pointing out that Hope has a house and a kid. AJ hints to Hope that bad things can happen, but Adam jolts awake.
Chelsea reappears and asks if Adam had a bad dream. Adam corrects Chelsea that it was a memory, but he doesn’t want to talk about it yet. Chelsea doesn’t want to pressure Adam; she thinks Adam’s subconscious will give him the answers he needs when he’s ready.
Adam isn’t willing to wait, so he reveals he’s off to see Sharon.
At the cottage, Adam hates barging in like this, but he has to tell Sharon the latest news. Adam talks about what he remembered when he was asleep; he knows he heard AJ’s voice threatening his mother.
However, Adam felt like something terrible was going to happen – it was like he couldn’t bear to look at it and woke up.
Adam’s head hurts and he’s clearly shaken, so Sharon pushes him to relax. Of course, Adam’s unwilling to do that until he pulls back the curtain on his memories. He asks if Sharon will help him do that.
At Crimson Lights again, Chelsea thanks Rey for agreeing to meet. Rey respects that what Sharon talks about with Adam is off-limits. All Sharon said is that Adam’s trying to resolve some issues from his past.
Chelsea confesses she’s not entirely comfortable with this Sharon-Adam arrangement – and she doesn’t think Rey is either.
Rey has concerns, but he’d feel that way about any patient. This is about Sharon taking on too much during her own battle. Chelsea doesn’t buy that things aren’t different because it’s Adam. “I trust Sharon,” Rey insists. “Is there any reason why you don’t trust your fiancé?”
Chelsea rants about how therapists are supposed to be objective, but Adam feels like Sharon is the only person he can open up to. Chelsea feels like Sharon doesn’t understand what she’s set in motion here. Rey’s stunned to learn Adam’s with Sharon right now.
Chelsea’s sure Sharon has good intentions, but she thinks Sharon and Adam lose perspective when it comes to each other. Rey reflects on “Shadam’s” history, so Chelsea finds it amazing how open Sharon is with Rey.
He argues that was the deal when they got back together: no more secrets. Chelsea promises this isn’t about jealousy or insecurity – she’s just concerned.
At Sharon’s place again, she urges Adam to picture what’s on the front porch. Sharon encourages Adam to walk inside and tell her what he sees. Next, Adam pictures the dining room.
He describes the table before realizing he’s under it. In a brief flashback snippet, we see little Adam cowering under the table on the floor.
In Monday’s Young and the Restless episode, Sharon gently pushes Adam to keep remembering. The flashback continues as Adam recalls how scared his mother sounded.
AJ threatens to go after Hope’s son, which upsets her. Adam watches their feet as AJ insists bad things will happen if he doesn’t get his money when he comes back.
As AJ’s leaving, Adam jumps out from under the table and shouts at AJ to leave his mother alone. It cuts back to the present as Adam jumps up and shouts the same thing.
Adam’s so rattled that he bolts from the house despite Sharon’s attempts to stop him. Later, Rey finds Sharon shaking and she admits Adam was in a bad place when he left.
Rey understands where Sharon’s coming from when it comes to Adam. He relates it to when he gets overly invested in a case. Rey feels like Sharon has done her part and argues that she should let Chelsea take care of Adam.
Sharon wants Rey to go back to work, but she admits she’ll be there for Adam if he gets in touch again. Rey’s clearly annoyed, but he gets that Sharon will do what she has to do.
When Chelsea returns to the penthouse, Adam’s nowhere to be found. Chelsea goes to Sharon’s place and insists she can’t find Adam. It’s obvious to Chelsea that things didn’t go well today. “He could be out there having a mental breakdown!” Chelsea shouts.
Rey comes back in the room and pushes Chelsea to back off. Chelsea vows to find Adam herself, but she can see that Sharon’s just as scared as she is. “You know this is spinning out of control,” Chelsea declares as she leaves.
At Newman Enterprises, Victoria gets a call from Billy about Katie’s allergic reaction to a bee sting. Billy’s taking Katie over to the New Hope Clinic now. Victoria joins Billy there, so he lets her know Katie’s going to be OK and is in the room down the hall.
After Victoria checks in with Nate, she returns to Billy and can see that he’s not OK. Victoria doesn’t blame Billy for Katie’s ordeal and admits she’s given up being mad at him. It’s been hard to let go, but Victoria has come to grips with who they are instead of who they thought they would be.
Back with Elena, she gushes over Nate’s contributions at the clinic and thinks they’ll have to clone him for their next charitable endeavor. There aren’t enough people in the world like Nate.
That’s it for Monday’s Y&R episode, but The Young and the Restless spoilers say there’s much more drama to come! CDL’s where you want to be for fantastic Young and the Restless spoilers, updates and news.
