The Young and the Restless Spoilers Review: Friday, October 9 – Amanda Confronts Nate Over Ghosting – Nick Blasts Adam-Like Victoria

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers review for Friday, October 9, teases that some tense moments are happening all over Genoa City. At Society, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) makes sure Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) will be all right alone with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). After Billy steps away to take a call, Victor admits it’s actually Lily he came to see.

In Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) suite at The Grand Phoenix, she talks to her “money guy” about how Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) bought the entire loan. Phyllis orders him to find a loophole and balks when he suggests using Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) to her advantage.

Nick shows up moments later and wonders what’s got Phyllis tied up in knots. Phyllis is reluctant to share since she knows Nick will move heaven and earth to fix it – and that’ll fit right into “her” narrative. Nick gets Phyllis to admit she’s talking about Victoria.

At Crimson Lights, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) sits deep in thought. He flashes back to sleeping with Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) at the clinic before Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan).

Amanda acknowledges the fact that Nate’s been blowing her off and worries it’s because she keeps going on and on about her newfound family.

Nate insists that’s not true, but Amanda would get it if she didn’t fit into Nate’s “neat, regimented life.” She wonders if Nate’s hit his limit. At Elena and Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) penthouse, Elena sits deep in thought as well.

Devon thinks Elena seems a million miles away and wonders if this is about what happened at the clinic the other day.

Devon insists Elena can’t keep torturing herself about her patient and praises her for being so selfless. Elena gets upset when Devon calls her “the personification of goodness” and argues that she has faults like everyone else.

Devon wonders what’s going on with Elena, but she contends that she’s fine.

Elena admits to struggling with a few things, but she can handle them herself. Devon worries this is about him hanging out with Amanda, so Elena confesses to feeling insecure sometimes.

Devon notes there’s nothing for Elena to be insecure about, so she says she knows. Elena isn’t proud of how she handled things. “You deserve better,” Elena insists on Friday’s Y&R episode.

Back at the coffeehouse, Nate tries to explain why he’s been ghosting Amanda. She isn’t buying his flimsy excuses, so he admits he could’ve been better about staying in touch. Amanda jokes about how Nate should never debate an attorney and suggests he can make it up to her over dinner.

Nate says he needs a night to get his head together and get some rest. After that, he can give Amanda the attention she deserves. Amanda’s taken aback and doesn’t think she’s ever been turned down quite so eloquently. She says it’s fine and was just looking forward to one night away from the chaos of Chance Comm.

Nate’s out of the loop, so Amanda wonders if he’s sure there’s nothing else going on. Nate reassures Amanda, who gets him to confirm they’ll stay in touch this time.

Back at Society, Victor wants to know how Lily gets up in the morning knowing she has to go to work with that miscreant. If Lily thinks the battle’s won, she’s sorely mistaken.

Victor argues that if Lily wants to protect her employees, her company and her job, then all she has to do is show Billy the door. Lily notes that Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) handles the hiring and firing. She also feels like Billy’s story on Adam was a public service and a huge success.

Lily thinks Victor should tell Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) that his pressure tactics don’t work any more than Nikki’s guilt trip.

Victor won’t let Lily use Newman Media against him, but she reminds Victor that Victoria sold it. Victor suggests that his history should show Lily that he has a way of righting the wrong.

In Phyllis’ suite again, she doesn’t want Nick involved in this war with Victoria. Nick argues that he’s already involved since this is his sister. He wants to try and fix it, but Phyllis respectfully turns him down.

Nick at least wants to know what Phyllis’ plan is, so she says she’ll go up against Victoria and has the perfect non-Newman to help her.

Nick eventually makes his way to Victoria’s office, so she assumes Phyllis asked Nick to ride to her rescue. Nick corrects Victoria and wants her side of the story. Victoria recaps her latest hotel issues with Phyllis and admits she bought Phyllis’ debt.

She can’t believe Phyllis put up 75 percent of The Grand Phoenix as collateral and notes that it’s the move of a desperate woman.

Nick feels like Phyllis deserved a slap on the wrist, not a hostile takeover. He rants about Victoria’s revenge, but she feels this is just business. “It’s almost like I’m listening to Dad right now,” Nick says. Victoria guesses she learned how to be ruthless from the very best.

After mulling it over a bit more, Nick decides Victor wouldn’t have handled it like this. He thinks Victoria’s move was more like something Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) would do.

Nick argues that it’s like what Adam pulled to get him out of Dark Horse and brings up how Victoria gave family dirt to Alyssa Montalvo (Maria DiDomenico).

Nick needs “a damn flow chart” to keep up with Victoria’s shifting loyalties. Everyone’s paying, including Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and Faith Newman (Alvyia Alyn Lind). Nick feels like maybe he needs to protect Faith from Victoria now.

Victoria says she made a mistake, but Nick feels like it was a series of catastrophic mistakes. “Won’t you tell me again why you think you’re not like Adam?” Nick asks before storming out.

Phyllis sits down with Amanda in the hotel lobby and updates her on the situation with “power hungry” Victoria. She warns that she’s going to burn Victoria so bad that Victoria will never underestimate her again.

Amanda suggests Christine Williams (Lauralee Bell) as Phyllis’ lawyer. “Uh…no. That’s not an option, but thanks,” Phyllis says. She was thinking Amanda instead.

Amanda has a contract with Chance Comm, so he best she can do is offer friendly, non-legal advice: “Be careful.” Phyllis argues the Newmans fight dirty and has learned that if you want to come out on top, then you have to get down in the mud.

Amanda wonders if Phyllis has considered how this will affect her relationship with Nick.

Phyllis admits she has and just plans to keep Nick out of it. Amanda doesn’t think that’s realistic, but Phyllis doesn’t believe she’ll lose Nick over this. Nick doesn’t have the Newman hive mind and is a good man. Amanda hopes Phyllis is right, but she urges her friend to only bet what she’s willing to lose.

When Nate spots Nick at Crimson Lights, he talks about feeling burned out and quickly shifts to the article about Adam. Nate asks about Faith and marvels over Adam’s horrible crimes.

“Some betrayals are beyond the pale,” Nick says. “You lose the right to call yourself family.” That comment seems to hit Nate hard.

Back at the penthouse, Elena seems uneasy as Devon insists on pampering her tonight. She later gets a text from Nate, who wants to check on her. Elena says she can’t keep doing this and that it isn’t fair to Devon.

Nate gets it, but he warns that Elena shouldn’t do anything until they talk. Elena agrees and texts back that they’ll talk tomorrow.

When Devon returns to discuss dinner plans, Elena’s distracted and lies about the text. She says Nate wanted to make sure she could cover a shift. Devon thinks some time off would be nicer and suggests maybe a day at the lake.

Elena fibs that she already agreed to work, so Devon says that’s OK since he knows Elena doesn’t like to go back on her commitments.

Elena wants to make the most of the time they have right now. They strip down and make love, but Elena starts crying. Devon worries he did something wrong, but Elena says she just wishes she could stop time. She declares love for Devon and suggests trying to make this last forever.

At Society, Billy reconvenes with Lily after Victor leaves and wonders how her meeting with went. Lily admits that Victor wanted her to fire Billy and teases him about saying she’d think about it.

Billy’s grateful that Lily stuck up for him, so she points out that she understands what it’s like to rebuild your life. Lily had to do that after causing Hilary Curtis Hamilton’s (Mishael Morgan) death and thinks she’s a work in progress like Billy.

Victor pops in at Newman Enterprises and wants to make peace with Victoria. He insists he adores and misses his daughter, but Phyllis continues to be difficult. Victor wants to go back to the way things were before – or a least make amends and move forward.

Victor wants to take Newman Media away from “Billy Boy” and thinks Victoria should redeem herself by undoing some of her damage.

Victoria suggests Victor should give that article another read and implies that Adam’s the one in need of redemption. She rejects Victor’s olive branch and contends that she has a business to run. Victoria’s sure Victor can show himself out.

At The Grand Phoenix, Nick tells Phyllis that he went to see Victoria and got the scoop. He thinks this isn’t really about Phyllis; Victoria trusted Billy and it backfired. Nick feels like the best thing to do is give Victoria space, but Phyllis refuses.

In Friday’s Young and the Restless episode, Nick wants Phyllis to trust him and stay off Victoria’s radar. He tries to distract her from her counterattack plans by hyping dinner and videogames at home. It doesn’t work, but Phyllis does agree to a game of pool.

After Lily enters the lobby with Billy, he asks if she wants a nightcap. Lily’s on board, but then has to take a raincheck after getting a message from Mattie Ashby. As Lily gets on the elevator, Billy watches her intently. It looks like Billy’s falling for Lily, so this will inevitable complicate things at work!
