The Good Doctor Premiere Recap 04/09/20: Season 4 Episode 2 "Frontline Part 2"

Tonight on NBC their new medical drama “The Good Doctor” airs with an all-new Monday, November 9, 2020, episode and we have your The Good Doctor recap below. On tonight’s The Good Doctor season 4 episode, 2 called, “Frontline Part 2” as per the ABC synopsis, “Dr. Shaun Murphy and Dr. Marcus Andrews determine that their patient has been infected with COVID-19.

As they struggle to understand and get ahead of a constantly evolving virus, Shaun has a hard time balancing his fears and concerns about potentially jeopardizing Lea’s health and wanting to be with the woman he loves. Meanwhile, Claire looks for a way to grieve Melendez’s death through her patients.

Shaun just woke up, Lea is beside him – well not really, she is on his computer live, he is smiling and says good morning.  At the hospital, Deena has now become one of the patients. Claire has found the necklace belonging to one of the first patients that died in the hospital of Covid, she gives it to her daughter – we see Neil smiling at Claire for what she did.

While in the supply room, Neil talks to Claire and asks her why she is there.

While examining Mark, another Covid patient, Shaun finds his C02 is very low and his wife is looking on through Facetime, she is very worried. Shaun says he thinks the patient has a blood clot in his lung interfering with his gas exchange, they immediately move him out of the room.

Alex is with his patient, she is not coherent, but he tells her that her baby is waiting for her.

Aaron is at home, he is playing video games at 3 am, he can’t sleep and he can’t go to work. He is playing with a fifteen-year-old who tells him to apologize to his wife.

Claire is in the boardroom, Shaun walks in with some paperwork and he tells her that this is the second time in an hour that Lea has not answered the phone.

More and more patients die, with their loved ones watching on Facetime.

Audrey is at home and she looks very upset, shaken by what has been going on. Shaun is home, Alex is there and Shaun says it is not always fun. He asks Alex if he loves Mia and what does he love about her. Alex says that she loves their son, knows what he needs. Shaun says he loves his son. Lea calls, she had a sore throat and got tested for Covid, but she is negative.

Alex gets a call from his son, he tells him about his pregnant patient. His son asks if he is going to make his graduation, he says he doesn’t think so because he made a commitment. His son hangs up on him.

Mark is not doing well, his wife is frustrated and asks Shaun if he knows what he is doing, she calls him useless. Shaun tells her that it is her fault, Mark never left the apartment, she must have exposed him to it, and they are doing all that they can. Outside the room, Marcus tells Shaun that Mark could be dying, his wife has a right to lash out.

Aaron goes to see his wife and says he is sorry for everything. But, it doesn’t go far and the two get back into another argument.

Claire is doing some research on a patient whose dog tags she found. But the thing is, the dog tags are not his, he just carried them around for a very long time and his family knows nothing about it.

Aaron is eating a meal in his bedroom and hears a noise, it is Shaun and he is throwing rocks at the window, he is looking for relationship advice. He says he is cranky and he has never been like that before. He can’t see Lea and he wants to.

Shaun tells Aaron that he wants this to be over. Aaron can relate, he says he knows how he feels and he is also scared that the world will never be the same again. He tells Shaun to be kind, to himself and to everyone, because what else is there. Shaun leaves.

Shaun is with Mark, his wife is watching and they are listening to “Bright Eyes,” she tells Shaun it reminds her of her husband. She goes on to tell Shaun that he probably got Covid from her. Shaun tells her it is hard. Then, he tells her that Mark has a blockage and he needs to help him.

Morgan is with Deena, she tells her that her numbers are low and she needs a ventilator, Deena knows. Morgan opens the blinds, the staff is all outside looking in and Morgan tells her that she is stuck with all of them.

Aaron tells his wife that he has been thinking, people are dying and he is there, it makes him feel week and scared. He feels relieved and safe that he is there at home and that makes him feel like a coward. She tells him that she just needed an honest moment, she thanks him, he made her feel like he actually needs her. She apologizes to him, they hug each other, then he apologizes.

Alex is rocking the baby, his son calls and apologizes to him. He says he should not have gotten angry that he didn’t go to Pheonix. He knows his job is important, but sometimes he just wants to know that he cares about him more than he cares about the job. Alex tells him that when his mom got pregnant he was so nervous, he had a commitment and he didn’t know if he was ready. But when he was born, everything changed, he loved him and called him Buddy. He may make mistakes over and over again, but he is the most important thing in his life.

Shaun gets a call from Mark’s wife, Mark is still out. Shaun tells her that they amputated Mark’s foot and ankle. He is still on a ventilator. She thanks him, yesterday she thought he was dying and today he is still alive.

Alex brings the baby into the room with its mother, he takes the baby and places it in the mother’s arms. It looks like she is going to wake up, but she doesn’t.

Claire is still researching about the dog tags, Neil is still with her and tells her that it doesn’t change anything. She tells him that everything sucks, people are dying and they can’t help them and what is worse, he is not there. He tells her that it has to hurt for a while.
Deena is on the ventilator, Audrey is with her.

Later, Audrey goes to see Morgan and tells her it is time, today. With Deena’s son on Facetime, they turn off the ventilator.

Three weeks later, Mark finally leaves the hospital, his wife holding his hand, and the staff cheering him on. The babies’ mother wakes up, she is holding her baby and Alex is there. Marcus goes home, he leaves the garage and enters the house. Deena’s son is at the hospital, he tells her that his mom talked about her a lot. Claire finds the owner of the real owner of the dog tags; they were friends, he thanks her. She gets in the car, Neil is there, he tells her that was beautiful and she has an amazing story ahead, he can’t wait to see it. She starts crying, turns again, Neil is gone.

Alex calls his wife, he can go home. He asks his wife if she loves him, she says yes, she loves that he loves their son and how he lights up when he is with him. He tells her that he loves her for the same reasons, but they don’t need to be together to do that.

Claire and Audrey are sitting on a bench, she asks her if she is ok if they stop going there. She tells her that he changed her, and that is not going to go away.

Lea shows up at Shaun’s door, she has had three tests for Covid and is negative, she has everything to stay over. Shaun opens the door and his arms to her. Shaun then goes to the couch and turns on the TV, Lea joins him, she puts her head on his shoulder.
