General Hospital Spoilers: Monday, November 9 Recap - Ava Can't Save Julian - Finn Flatlines - Alex Goes Overboard

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Monday, November 9, reveal that Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy), Dev Corbin aka Dev Cerci (Ashton Arbab), and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) chatted at the Corinthos house about the teens’ effort to make sure Marcus Taggert (Réal Andrews) is remembered as a hero.

Soon, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Julian Jerome (William deVry) arrived, and Dev and Josslyn took off.

Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) showed up and tried to run interference as Sonny quizzed Julian about being on the docks the night that Wiley Quartermaine Corinthos (Erik and Theo Olson) was kidnapped.

Julian tried to deflect, but eventually Julian copped to being on the docks to try to stop Nelle Benson Jerome (Chloe Lanier), and he said that Taggert intervened.

Julian said that Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) might be interested in knowing that Taggert’s alive and that Sonny’s working with him. “If you leave me alone, nobody has to know anything.” Julian said.

A displeased Sonny let Julian and Ava go, and later Jason theorized that Julian was in over his head and Ava was desperate to protect him. “She can’t,” Sonny said.

At the hospital, Portia Robinson (Brooke Kerr) gave Trina Robinson (Sydney Mikayla) a new phone before getting paged.

Elsewhere in the hospital, Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) frantically tried to find out information about Hamilton Finn’s (Michael Easton) condition, while Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) called Jackie Templeton (Kim Delaney) with news about Finn.

In a cubicle in the ER, Finn whispered to Peter August (Wes Ramsey) that Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) wanted to be his mother too much.

Peter seemed confused by that, and suddenly Finn flatlined, causing Portia to rush in and start CPR. Just then, Chase entered the cubicle and was horrified to see Portia doing CPR on his brother.

In another hospital room, Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) got himself up out of bed, but Robert rushed in and made him get back in bed. Robert shared that Anna went after Alex Devane Marick (Finola Hughes), who had Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) as a hostage.

Both Robert and Valentin hoped that Anna killed Alex.

Chase and Peter regrouped in the ER waiting area, and Peter shared that Alex was responsible for shooting Finn and taking Maxie hostage. Robert came along, as did Portia, who said that fluid was accumulating around Finn’s heart, and that he needed surgery to remove the bullet and drain the fluid.

On The Haunted Star, Alex shot at Anna, who ducked behind something. Anna called out to Alex, saying that they should both get Maxie out of harm’s way. Suddenly, Anna created a diversion and drew Alex out, then shot her.

Maxie took the opportunity to go on the move, and Alex escaped. Anna headed out on deck, and while Anna’s back was turned, Alex emerged and held Anna at gunpoint from behind.

Suddenly, Maxie arrived on deck, and Anna shot Alex again, seemingly in the abdomen. Alex collapsed, and Anna told Maxie to go get something to stop the bleeding. Alex told Anna that someone was bound to die that day, and that Anna couldn’t save Peter.

Anna argued that Peter wasn’t lost and that he had a baby on the way. Anna turned her back for a moment, and Alex crawled off the edge of the boat into the water. Anna had a moment of angst, then she said it was time to get Maxie to safety.

Over at Kelly’s, Dev and Josslyn had a moment alone as they waited for Trina to arrive. Dev gifted Josslyn with a new monogrammed journal for her birthday, which Josslyn loved.

Dev then leaned in for a kiss, but Josslyn stopped him just as Trina walked in. Dev then grumped at Josslyn about how she was acting like he’s garbage.

Trina jumped into the conversation, telling Dev not to talk to Josslyn like that. Dev went on, griping sarcastically that Cameron Webber (William Lipton) was SO much better.

Dev said that Cameron didm’t actually like Josslyn or Trina, and that Cameron’s a selfish tool. Trina got irritated and told Dev to shut up, and Dev walked outside.

Josslyn went after Dev and asked if he was ok. “What do you think?” Dev ranted. Dev went on, saying that Josslyn would just dump Cameron as soon as she got him, anyway, because no one’s good enough for her.

“No one could ever live up to your precious Oscar,” Dev said before walking off, referring to Oscar Nero Quartermaine (Garren Stitt).

Josslyn went back inside, and Trina asked what she walked in on. “Dev tried to kiss me, and he’s upset now,” Josslyn said. Just then, Ava walked in with Trina’s old phone, and Trina was thrilled. “Now I have all those pictures of me and my dad back,” Trina gushed.

Ava looked uncomfortable, then she headed outside, where Julian was waiting for her.

Ava told Julian in no uncertain terms that he couldn’t do anything that would hurt Trina. “Cyrus already kidnapped Trina once, and if he knows her father’s alive, he’ll do it again!” Ava bellowed.

“Cyrus can’t know that Taggert is out there,” Ava insisted. “That girl’s been through enough.” Julian promised not to say anything about Taggert to Cyrus.

Back at the hospital, Portia told Chase and Robert that Finn was in surgery. Chase walked off, and Robert quizzed Portia and learned that they might have to remove the sac around Finn’s heart.

Meanwhile, Chase went to the chapel for solace, while Robert and Peter caught up. Robert was careful not to spill any more information to Peter than he had to.

Back in Valentin’s room, Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) walked in and learned about the Alex/Anna situation. Valentin told Martin that his will was out of date and that he wanted to revisit custody of Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez) now that Dante Falconeri (Dominick Zamprogna) was back in the picture.

Valentin then said that he was going to go kill Alex, just as Robert walked in the room. Martin left, and Robert blasted Valentin for thinking that luring Alex to Port Charles was a good idea.

Valentin said he was going to kill Alex with or without Robert, and both men walked out of the room and out into the hallway near the elevators.

Just then, Anna and Maxie walked into the ER together. Peter was there and rushed over to Maxie, while Anna went over to Robert and Valentin. Anna immediately asked about Finn, and Portia rushed over and said that Finn was in surgery and they probably wouldn’t know anything until morning.

As Maxie was recounting the story about what happened to Peter, she blurted out that Alex was dead.

Anna joined Chase in the chapel. “Maxie?” Chase asked. “Fine, not a scratch,” Anna replied. “Wish I could say the same for Finn,” Chase said somberly. Anna said that they’d get no more trouble from Alex, and she apologized to Chase and took his hand tenderly.

Finally, Jackie stood at some overseas airport and called Gregory Chase (Gregory Harrison), telling him that he needed to get to Port Charles immediately and that his sons needed him.
