General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Monday, December 21, reveal that Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) was visited by Dante Falconeri (Dominick Zamprogna), who dropped by the house to bring Christmas gifts to his family.
Carly said that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) had been out of touch for a while, and Dante mentioned in conversation how Sonny had helped him and Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan) out with their house years ago.
Carly eventually admitted that Sonny did pay the difference between Dante and Lulu’s offer on the house and the final sale price. Dante said that he’d thank Sonny for that later.
Carly asked Dante if he wanted to meet his sister Donna Corinthos (Ella and Emma Hulen), and he gladly went upstairs to see the baby. Dante thought his little sister was beautiful and that she had a beautiful smile.
In Vermont at the Mountain Landing Long Term Care Facility, Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight), Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober), and Laura Collins (Genie Francis) stood by Florence Grey’s (Anne Collings) bedside.
Florence was alert, and she gave Cyrus the silent treatment, then she got disoriented and didn’t know where she was. Florence got more upset when Cyrus introduced Laura as their half-sister.
Florence cried and blasted Cyrus for killing her husband all those years ago, and Cyrus cried, saying that his only hope is that she’ll look at him like she’s his mother. “I don’t know you anymore,” Florence said, prompting Laura to take Cyrus out into the hallway.
There, Laura said that she believed that Cyrus’ actions as a teen were an accident, but that she had trouble with the man he grew up to be.
Laura wondered why Cyrus had gone to such great lengths to lure her to Vermont. Cyrus said that Laura wouldn’t have believed it if he had just told her that they were half-siblings.
Cyrus mused that he and Laura were alike, as they had both killed men when they were young. Laura fired back that the difference was in how they lived their lives since then.
Laura noted that Lulu was in a long-term care facility because of what Cyrus did, and Cyrus got peeved, saying that Laura should be careful and that she didn’t want him for an enemy.
Martin materialized, telling Cyrus not to talk to their sister that way. Laura made a crack about Cyrus trying to buy his mother’s love, and Cyrus said that he bought Port Charles.
“Not all of it, and not yet,” Laura said. “One piece at a time, sister dear,” Cyrus growled, then he went into Florence’s room, where he showed her hundred-dollar bills from his wallet, his black card, and his hospital ID badge.
Cyrus told Florence that he was a man who’s respected, admired, and feared, and that one day she’d see him as the world sees him. “And everything I’ve done will have been worth it,” Cyrus said through tears.
Back in Port Charles, Peter August (Wes Ramsey) and Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) contemplated whether they wanted to know their baby’s gender before it was born.
Maxie had just come from a doctor’s appointment, and she had an envelope with the baby’s gender written inside. Peter and Maxie decided to open the envelope, and Peter opened it hurriedly.
Over at another table, Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) talked with Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) about her impressions regarding Dante. Anna expressed concern about Dante and how he seemed very distant and remorseful for having left Lulu and his family.
After quite a bit of discussion, Valentin and Anna concluded that while they wanted to trust Dante, there was something that just felt off about his release.
Valentin and Anna concluded that either Dante made a remarkable and very quick recovery, or the WSB needed something from him. Suddenly, Maxie and Peter emerged and handed Anna the piece of paper.
Anna read it happily, saying that Maxie and Peter were having a baby girl. Anna and Maxie went off to discuss the double wedding, and Valentin noted that Peter seemed relieved to be having a girl.
Peter noted that he was relieved, because if he were having a boy, then he might look for signs of César Faison (Anders Hove) in the child. Peter mused that the little girl might take after his mother, which made Valentin a little uncomfortable.
Elsewhere, Maxie said hi to Dante, who walked into the dining room and stared at Peter.
At Anna’s house, Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) and Gregory Chase (Gregory Harrison) came to see Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton).
The men ended up playing a game of poker, and as they were talking and playing, Gregory mentioned how Finn didn’t come to his wedding to Jackie Templeton (Kim Delaney). Finn got uncomfortable and admitted that he didn’t handle things well.
When Chase stepped away, Gregory told Finn that he knew why Finn didn’t come to the wedding. Finn looked aghast, and Gregory explained that Jackie said that it was as much her fault as anyone’s, since she never stopped to think about how the marriage would affect him.
Gregory said that he hoped that Finn would accept Jackie as family.
Later, Anna returned home as Chase and Gregory were leaving. Finn immediately told Anna that he needed to tell her why he didn’t go to his father’s wedding. “I can’t keep it inside, and I want no secrets between us,” Finn said.
On the bridge in New Jersey, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) called out for Sonny as he looked down into the water from the bridge. Jason jumped into the water, but he couldn’t find Sonny, and soon he heard police helicopters and sirens on the scene.
Jason hid along the banks of the river, and eventually the police swarmed the scene, and one of them said, “Bring in the body.”
Jason hid and watched as the police brought a body up from the river in a body bag. The cops unzipped the bag, and it was Julian Jerome’s (William deVry) body. Jason saw the body from his hiding spot, and then he took off. The police kept combing the area, but they didn’t find Jason.
A short while later, Jason rushed in the front door of the Corinthos house and immediately Carly could see that something was very wrong. “What’s happened? Where’s Sonny,” Carly asked frantically.
