The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that the year is winding down and that means it’s time to look to the future. Some great stuff’s coming up in 2021 – and we’ve got some hot new details for you. Here’s a preview of what you can expect in January and beyond.
First, let’s discuss the drama that’s in store for the Newman clan. Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) will once again become a source of contention within the family. Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) will refuse to turn his back on Adam, especially since his son will be in total crisis mode.
After Chelsea Lawson’s (Melissa Claire Egan) brain aneurysm leads to a major medical emergency, Adam will struggle with some tough emotions. Since Adam’s world will be spinning out of control, Victor will naturally want to help. Despite what Adam’s going through, Victor’s support of his son will cause issues.
Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) is always going to be wary of Adam and the pain he tends to cause for his father. Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) will undoubtedly think Victor’s making a mistake, too.
They’ll probably feel like Adam’s going to use the situation to manipulate Victor, but Vic will hope this might lead to a reconciliation.
Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) will want to be there for Adam as well, so look for Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) to have a big problem with “Shadam’s” lingering bond.
Of course, Adam won’t be the only thing creating Newman family drama. Nikki will eventually get updates on Faith Newman’s (Alyvia Alyn Lind) drinking, so she’ll decide to intervene before her granddaughter takes this any further.
Y&R fans know Nikki’s faced her own battle with the bottle in the path. She won’t want Faith heading down the same path to alcoholism, so expect Nikki to share her cautionary tale. Nikki will do whatever it takes to make sure Faith doesn’t follow in her footsteps.
Over with Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) and Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz), 2021 will bring a serious crisis in their marriage. There’s a good chance that’ll be due to some infertility issues based on the hints Y&R’s been dropping.
Chance and Abby’s relationship will be put to the test, so they’ll get plenty of guidance from those closest to them.
Other Young and the Restless spoilers say Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) will wonder if she should’ve left her past a mystery. The more Amanda learns about her birth mom and biological sister, the more pain and anger she’ll have to deal with.
Amanda will lean on Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) as she copes with all this, so their connection will definitely strengthen.
At the same time, Devon will remain drawn to Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy). Elena’s heart will continue to be torn, but she’ll eventually try to move on with Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic).
As Devon watches Elena and Nate get closer, he’ll wonder if maybe he threw in the towel too quickly and should’ve fought to save his relationship.
Victoria will also wrestle with feelings for a former flame as Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and Lily Winters’ (Christel Khalil) love blooms. As Victoria adjusts to how that romance affects her children with Billy, there’ll be some hurdles to tackle.
Victoria will realize she’s not quite over what she had with Billy, so we’ll see what she decides to do about that!
Next, Summer Newman (Hunter King) and Sally Spectra’s (Courtney Hope) rivalry will turn into a full-blown war – one that Summer’s determined to win. The Young and the Restless spoilers say Summer will make a dirty move in hopes of taking Sally down.
Summer will need more ammo to do that, so it seems likely she’ll be taking a trip to Los Angeles.
There are hints about a Bold and the Beautiful crossover since B&B’s Flo Fulton (Katrina Bowden) will be offered a chance at revenge on Sally. Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) will get caught in the middle of Sally and Summer’s feud since Sally will keep using him to her advantage.
However, it looks like Sally and Jack Abbott’s (Peter Bergman) growing bond could present some complications.
As for Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), she’ll seek Kevin Fisher’s (Greg Rikaart) help with plotting Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) downfall.
Kevin has Gloria Fisher Bardwell’s (Judith Chapman) thumb drive in his possession – one that proves millions have been stolen from Newman Enterprises on Victoria’s watch. Phyllis will need to get her hands on that if she wants her scheme to pan out.
Nick and Victoria will also spar over Phyllis in the new year. Although Nick will initially be on Phyllis’ team, will Phyllis’ actions cause him to switch sides? Time will tell, but you can bet the road ahead won’t be easy for “Phick.”
