General Hospital (GH) spoilers has some news to pass on about Maurice Benard, who portrays Sonny Corinthos on the ABC soap. The popular GH star recently posted a short video for his social media followers during which he offered a little teaser about what’s to come for Sonny on the show.
Maurice didn’t offer a lot of details, but he did check in with his fans and asked how everyone’s holidays were. In the video, Maurice starts by saying, “How are you guys doing? How was your Christmas? Because my Christmas was fantastic.”
As you might know, Maurice does a regular video series called “State of Mind,” during which he discusses mental health issues and his own journey with bipolar disorder. It’s a great series if you haven’t checked it out.
Next, Maurice references what’s been happening on General Hospital. “GH is kickin’ ass right now, as you probably already know,” Maurice says. “Wait until you see what’s coming up! “Oooooh, I can’t wait!”
Then Maurice references his new beard, saying, “The reason I have a beard…I can’t tell you.” Maurice gets into his next “State of Mind” episode, leaving fans wondering about the significance of his beard.
We should note that in addition to his beard, Maurice is sporting a more gray hair than it seems that he’s had recently on the show. This all suggests that his character Sonny Corinthos may indeed be lost and wandering after his fall from the footbridge in New Jersey.
GH viewers will remember that just after Sonny managed to shoot and kill Julian Jerome (William deVry) after a struggle for the gun, the footbridge plummeted into the icy water below.
Now Sonny is missing, and Maurice’s Instagram post about his newfound beard would mesh with long-term General Hospital spoilers indicating that Sonny will be lost, confused, and with amnesia after his fall.
Whatever the details will turn out to be, it’s apparently going to be exciting given Maurice’s statements in the video.
Maurice’s followers on Instagram have been steadily commenting on his GH teaser and his “State of Mind” series. One person commented: “You’re such a class act. Thanks for sharing your triumphs and struggles. Merry Christmas to you and yours!”
And someone else apparently is enjoying Maurice’s new bearded look, as she wrote: “Do you have a brother? Lol single.”
And someone over on Twitter, where Maurice also posted his video, replied: “I love the beard and the salt & pepper color – is very flattering on you.” Finally, someone said: “Can’t wait to see where Sonny is. Wish they’d let Sonny keep the beard.”
