General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Drew Cain (last played by Billy Miller) is needed on canvas in some form. However, Miller’s exit from the show was handled poorly and that could be a hurdle in getting him back on GH. Would Miller even want to return at this point?
It’s tough to say considering how Miller was treated, but we wouldn’t blame him if he chose to keep pursuing other film and primetime projects. Based on Kelly Monaco’s (Sam McCall) comments at the time of Miller’s exit, neither Monaco nor Miller were happy with how everything went down.
With all that in mind, perhaps we should start thinking about a Drew recast. It’s clear that Drew needs to be alive if Peter August (Wes Ramsey) is going to have any shot at redemption.
Plus, General Hospital fans know Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) is dealing with Drew’s returning memories. The timing is right for GH to start building toward Drew’s comeback, even if someone else is playing the role.
Donny Boaz (Y&R’s Chance Chancellor) was recently fired from The Young and the Restless, so he’s a free agent who’s looking for work. According to Boaz’s Instagram post following his firing, the show told him cast cuts were required due to the cost of COVID-19 testing. Regardless, the point is Boaz doesn’t have a steady job now and needs one!
Would Boaz make a good Drew Cain? Boaz’s character on Y&R was similar to Drew in some ways since Chance also had a military background and a kind heart.
We could buy Boaz playing Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) brother and maybe even serving as a love interest for Sam if a “Dream” reunion were to happen.
Sam and Drew fans might still be able to root for the pairing with a recast in the part. It’s an idea worth pondering now that Boaz is available.
