General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that the ABC soap has set up a new mystery to mull over. Who’s behind the robberies in the town Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) has landed in?
Phyllis Caulfield (Joyce Guy) and Lenny Caulfield’s (Rif Hutton) bar took a real hit, so Sonny felt like someone wanted to do serious damage. It went beyond a simple break-in since The Tan-O was heavily vandalized.
There have also been some other robberies in the area, which started right around the time Sonny arrived in town. Officer Ralph Finchley (Tatum Shank) is suspicious of Sonny as a result, but Sonny feels like the cop’s time would be better spent pursuing the real culprit.
It’s obvious Sonny isn’t behind these robberies, but that doesn’t mean Sonny isn’t connected in a roundabout way. Now that Sonny’s determined to stick around and help, he might even crack the case of who’s doing all this damage.
It’s easy to imagine Sonny doing a little stakeout and trying to catch the culprit – or at least one of the culprits – in the act.
When you think about it, wouldn’t this be an excellent strategy to put presumed dead Morgan Corinthos (Bryan Craig) back on canvas? What if Morgan is tied to these robberies? There have been several hints to suggest that Morgan may actually be alive and returning to the show.
We also know Phyllis has collected “strays” from the hospital, which is why Lenny was wary of Sonny in the beginning. The question is: Why was Lenny so wary? Lenny has surely had a bad experience or two with some of those strays or else he wouldn’t have been so hesitant to accept Sonny.
Maybe Morgan was a stray once upon a time and got thrown out by Lenny. If Morgan didn’t get a proper bipolar diagnosis like Sonny or refused to stay on his meds, he would’ve been a very troubled young man – and he still might be.
It’d explain why Morgan would potentially target The Tan-O if he once clashed with Lenny the owner.
Morgan might be caught up in some gang or at least a rough crowd. There are a couple ways General Hospital spoilers could go with a story like that. Morgan might have amnesia like Sonny, which means he wouldn’t remember who he is or how to get home.
However, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) also talked to Cameron Webber (William Lipton) about all the questions she’d have for Morgan if he miraculously showed back up alive – including where he’d been all this time and why he’s stayed away.
It almost felt like a setup for Morgan to have stayed away by choice. In that case, Morgan might recognize Sonny as his father if they cross paths. Either way, it’d be a dramatic moment if Sonny pulled a gun on a robber and told him to freeze – only to have that man turn around to reveal he’s Morgan!
GH writers have established Sonny’s protective nature about Phyllis and Lenny. They’ve established Sonny’s curiosity and determination about these robberies, too. This has to be building somewhere interesting, so could Morgan be caught up in all this somehow? We’ll offer updates as other GH news pops up.
