General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) may soon fight a little harder to get his rings back. GH fans know Sonny pawned those rings – including his wedding band – to score a seat at the card table recently.
It paid off since Sonny won enough to save The Tan-O, but he barely broke even at the next game and couldn’t buy his rings from the pawn shop.
However, Nina Reeves’ (Cynthia Watros) latest encounter with Sonny and the confusion that’s bound to follow could tie in with Sonny’s ring story. It has to be significant that they keep mentioning those rings as Sonny’s only tie to his past other than his watch.
Sonny has always considered the possibility that he might have someone waiting on him somewhere due to that wedding ring.
Of course, General Hospital spoilers say Nina will have to handle this carefully since Phyllis Caulfield (Joyce Guy) knows she’s been dating Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) lately.
Even so, Phyllis doesn’t know Nina’s romantic history or “Mike’s” romantic history for that matter. It’ll be easy for Nina to act like she’s an old love of Sonny’s.
Nina could even act like Sonny disappeared on her years ago or that they were husband and wife who drifted apart. There’ll be ways for Nina to sell this, even if she doesn’t come up with the story right away.
Nina can tell Sonny whatever she wants and then just argue she was afraid to overwhelm him initially.
This will become a GH story about getting revenge on Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) – and what better way than to hide Sonny’s survival and steal Sonny for herself? At least for a while!
As part of this storyline, Sonny could easily fall hard for Nina once he thinks they were previously married. It could motivate Sonny to put a bit more effort into getting his wedding band back.
Sonny might even score a new ring to propose to Nina with – or use one of Nina’s if she makes him believe a ring she already owns was her old engagement ring.
Regardless, there’s the potential for Nina to dupe “Mike” into think she used to be his wife and get a new marriage proposal once they’ve bonded.
Perhaps Sonny will want to seal the deal and build a life with Nina once again. Sonny won’t realize the game Nina’s playing or that Carly is actually the woman who’s waiting for him back home. This could turn into a real mess once Nina gets tangled up in all her lies!
