General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) recently posted a video that revealed Sonny’s memories return and pointed to Sonny reuniting with Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright). It was an amusing clip on the surface, but Benard seemingly leaked some story clues underneath all the fun!
In Benard’s recent Instagram story, he put up a video of himself in character and offered some great hints about the next phase of the story. Let’s look at what Maurice Benard had to say and see what it might tell us about Sonny’s future.
“Hi, my name is Mike,” Benard said in the clip. “And you know, it’s funny. I’m sitting here just relaxing and I’m starting to remember, like, my past. It seems like I keep hearing ‘Sonny…Sonny, where have you been…what’s up?’ And I keep saying, ‘I’m not Sonny! I’m Mike!’”
Of course, we have to remember that Benard has filmed scenes that GH hasn’t aired yet, so he’s ahead of the game in terms of what’s brewing for his character. It’s reasonable to think what Benard secretly knows might seep into a clip like this.
It sounds like “Mike” may face some memory flashes without quite recalling the full story. That may be why Benard talked about “starting to remember” his past.
Maurice Benard also suggested that he kept correcting people who had questions about Sonny’s time away. He was adamant that his name was “Mike,” so that could mean “Mike” will show signs of resistance when it comes to embracing Sonny’s world.
It makes sense for “Mike” to be reluctant, especially before all his memories flood back completely. If “Mike” is just getting bits and pieces, he may find it hard to connect to Sonny’s old life. However, it’s only a matter of time before “Mike” experiences total recall and can hopefully get back to his old self.
Once “Mike” fully remembers that he’s Sonny, it should bring a powerful reunion with Carly. Sonny got a new beginning as “Mike” in Nixon Falls, but he’ll get a chance at a fresh start as Sonny in Port Charles as well.
Sonny has definitely been missed by those closest to him, so we’ll all look forward to Sonny’s long-awaited return!
