General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth) may want to date Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms), so we’ll see Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) call out what he assumes is a romantic interest in the blonde beauty. Of course, baby drama could complicate this chance at new love!
GH fans know Austin showed up exactly when Maxie needed him in the woods where he delivered her baby. That’s certainly the kind of soapy first meeting that could set up a new pairing.
Some viewers see some chemistry between Maxie and Austin, so it might be a couple that the show decides to pursue.
Austin does seem to care about Maxie and the well-being of her child. Maxie’s been worried about the possibility that Austin will put the clues together and figure out her scheme with Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton).
However, Austin might surprise Maxie if he indeed uncovers the truth. Although Austin is someone who’s willing to take advantage of people’s situations for selfish gain, he’s not a monster.
It’s tough to believe Austin would willingly do anything to jeopardize “Bailey Quartermaine” aka Louise August’s (Harper and Scarlett Bloom) safety.
Austin might understand Maxie’s perspective and get that she’s just going to great lengths to protect her daughter from dangerous Peter August (Wes Ramsey).
Nevertheless, Maxie will remain uneasy when she first shows back up in town following her trip. She’d rather just keep Austin out of the loop entirely, but he’ll continue to sniff around Maxie during the week of August 23-27.
Scott will pick up on a certain vibe as he observes Austin’s interest in Maxie.
Scott will no doubt suspect Austin’s interest is of the romantic variety – and perhaps Scott’s right on some level. Austin may be more than curious since we’ve seen genuine signs of concern.
Scott has found happiness with Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati), so he might push Austin to ask Maxie out on a date and get some bliss of his own. Austin may be hesitant, but there’s definitely the potential for Austin and Maxie to become a legitimate pairing.
If they can get past the baby drama hurdle, Maxie and Austin might have a shot at a real relationship.
The show’s definitely keeping Austin in Maxie’s orbit, so we’ll see where things go from here. As other GH news rolls in, we’ll pass along updates.
