On tonight’s DWTS Season 30 episode 2 “First Elimination,” as per the ABC synopsis, “The 15 celebrity and pro-dancer couples are back in the ballroom for a second week with the first elimination of the 2021 season.
Celebrity and pro duos will perform time-honored dances including the Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot, Samba, Tango, Rumba, and Cha Cha. The show will begin with a comedic cold open and host Tyra Banks will walk out to an electrifying song to start the night.”

Tonight’s episode begins with Tyra Banks announcing that pro dancer Cheryl Burke has tested positive for Covid and because she was in close contact with Cody Rigsby, he is not in the ballroom either but this does not mean that his journey ends here.
Matt James and Lindsay Arnold dance the samba to “Levitating” by Dua Lipa.
Judges Comments: Len: “Instead of taking off your shirt, work on your hips, they are non-existent, they are allergic to music.” Bruno: Bruno is speechless. Derek: “I think what Len is trying to say is work on your bounce, that rise, and fall, hip action. Also, think about your feet, turn them out.” Carrie Ann: “Amazing physique, but you were missing the bravado.”

Well done.” Bruno: “Weightless, seamless, for a beginner you have done incredibly well. I have to say a great job.” Carrie Ann: “I have to say I was so impressed, there is this trust and vulnerability when you dance. Your journey will not be short.” Len: “I thought there was nice rotation and steps in and out of the hold. You both did a good job.”

Judges’ Comments: Bruno: “You are simply irresistible, when you have it right it came out of you naturally. I know what you have is exceptional.” Carrie Ann: “Way to represent. You are amazing, you had a rough start, you have so much going for you. It was amazing.” Len: “You have plenty of gear in the rear, you worked your hips fantastic. It was a powerful dance.” Derek: “I love you, you are absolutely amazing. Find the consistency and you are going to be amazing on the show.”

Amazing.” Len: “This week I got just what I expected. Plenty of attacks, very little finesse. But your footwork was very well done.” Derek: “You came out of the gate, you got me amped up and you continued the energy. I am so impressed, the control was awesome.” Bruno: “You had all the aggression and bravado and it was channeled into a power tango.”

Judges’ Comments: Len: “On a positive note, it had romance. But apart from that, there was very little that I liked. A lot of posing and running around.” Derek: “This was a dance that was just for you, it was beautiful and great. Watch your free arm though.” Bruno: “It was an honest dance, it lost the emotion that was needed for this dance.” Carrie Ann: “You need to sustain the movement.”

Judges’ Comments: Derek: “You have an awareness of your body, you know how to use it, you have great hip action. But be consistent from the beginning to the end. Great job, well done.” Bruno: “When you go high be careful of the dismount. Be consistent.” Carrie Ann: “Seventy-five percent of that was awesome, your passion is amazing, it brings us all in.” Len: “Someone is going home tonight, and I don’t think it is you.”

I felt the undercurrent, it was almost exploding at the end.” Carrie Ann: “That was amazing, that was the first time this season that I actually felt my heart attached to what you were doing, I couldn’t take my eyes off you. I am so impressed.” Len: “Your footwork was a little bit hit and miss, your upper body was great. You did better than the week before.” Derek: “The lower half you were struggling but the upper half was beautiful.”

But don’t kick your legs, just cause you have them doesn’t mean you have to use them.” Derek: “Use those beautiful legs, they are exceptional and beautiful. It was so beautiful to watch, you are a vision.” Bruno: “If you got it flaunt it.”

When you are side by side, contain your energy a little bit.” Bruno: “Full of vitality and zest. Sometimes a bit of control though.” Carrie Ann: “It was like watching a dance-off, I was getting lost in the performance.”

We get a look at Cody Rigsby and Cheryl Burke practicing the salsa, the judges are going to score. Len: “That was full of razzle-dazzle, lots of salsa content which I like to see. It was crafted well and danced well, well done.” Derek: “For a rehearsal it was great. Great job, well done.” Bruno: “We missed you in the ballroom, round your hips more.” Carrie Ann: “It was lack luster, it was a good job, lots of content, but not fantastic.”

I want you to watch that dance back.” Len: “We had the lights, the cameras, and you, the action. Well done.” Derek: “It was sassy Suni out there. Well done.”

Time for some results, they have combined the judges’ scores from last week and tonight with America’s votes.
The couples in the bottom two are Martin Kove and Britt Stewart, and Christine Chiu and Pasha Pashkov.
It is up to the judges to keep a couple in the competition. Derek would like to save Christine and Pasha, Bruno as well, Carrie Ann as well.
Martin and Britt are eliminated.
