An armored trunk was hit. It was carrying a half-million dollars and it belonged to the Thailand government. The same government that was demanding their money back. The armored trunk had been hit with a bomb and robbed. The money was gone. The heist crew killed one of the guards and forced the other to open the back door. The money they had taken was probably being split up among the thieves while the feds investigated the situation. But Captain Millus came by NCIS. He wanted Tennant and her team to take over the investigation and he told her he wanted things resolved before Thailand could make an official complaint. Millus didn’t want the bad publicity if this got out.

Tennant’s team took over. They investigated what happened with the heist and it was revealed that the emergency system to call for mayday was turned off. The team was trying to figure out how that happened when their expert on the matter revealed it couldn’t have been damaged by the bomb. It had to be turned off manually and the chief suspect is the sole survivor of the incident. Melissa was her name. She was questioned several times and it wasn’t until the team found evidence of her lying that she finally remembered something at the last second. She said they stopped for a pee break. Her partner supposedly had a bad prostate and yet he couldn’t say what happened because he was killed.

One guard was murdered while the other was allowed to live. It cast doubt on the survivor and suspicion never came off her even as the heist crew hit another building. The heist crew was bold. They were practically brazen in their actions and Special Agent Boone should know because he worked with the robbery squad for several years. He said heist crews were a different beast compared to regular bank robbers. They were highly skilled and dangerous what with their explosives. The explosives found at the scene matched some WWII explosives that were on a little island off the big island and being housed by the government. The government is trying to remove the weapons bit by bit. But it seems someone found out about the weapons cache still being there.

Aerial cameras found a boat visiting the island for four hours. They got a photo of the boat and the boat was high-powered as in it could make several trips back and forth without stopping. The stop on the island of explosives was therefore intentional. Later, Melissa was clear of any wrongdoing. It had been her partner that was dirty. Carl pretended to use the bathroom while he dismantled the security system and so that’s why the crew killed him and not Melissa. The crew was probably covering their tracks. Carl had been drowning in debt and so that explains why he agreed to assist in the heist but he was killed for his troubles and Melissa was eventually released from federal custody.

Special Agent Tara assisted Melissa in her release. Which in turn made Melissa grateful because she has a little boy waiting at home for her and so Melissa told Tara everything she knew. Including Carl’s other “breaks”. The team was following a lead when they walked in on a bank robbery. Hugh Lowry had been convinced to rob the bank by members of the heist and according to their plan, Lowry was supposed to make it to the bank alive and get into the van. There was just one problem with this. There was no van. Lowry was strapped with a bomb that was meant to kill him once he stopped serving as a distraction and in the meantime, the real crew members were off stealing a priceless artifact.

Tennant got to talking with Lowry. She told him that he was just the diversion and that bomb strapped to him could go off at any time. Luckily, Ernie was with her. He was their tech guy and he was able to determine the bomb was fake. They got it off, Lowry. They also questioned him about his friends and he told them they asked for a plane. Tennant and her team tracked down this plane. They surveilled the area until they saw the crew coming in. NCIS working with the local police department was able to stop the plane from taking off and they arrested everyone involved in the heists. They had a crisis averted. They got track of the money that was stolen and they were able to return it to the proper authorities.

Kai meanwhile needed to work out his living situation. His landlord was raising rent because he had a big dog and so Kai was going to house his dog in a kennel while he continues to the apartment shop. But Tennant surprisingly was flirted by Captain Millius. He brought coffee and he wanted to go stargazing her but she told him he could walk her to the car.
