The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) and Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) honeymoon will begin, so this couple will complete the wedding and plan their next chapter together.
Y&R fans have been wondering if the nuptials would actually happen due to Ashland’s past coming back to haunt him.
There have been forces working against this wedding from multiple angles, but love will conquer all in this case.
In some ways, it seems like a rewrite might’ve gone down since Ashland was originally supposed to be so ruthless and conniving.
Now the show seems to genuinely want to sell Ashland and Victoria as a complex, tragic love story.
We can’t forget that Ashland is dying, though his chemo treatments could extend his life a bit longer.
Ashland has had coughing spells and difficulty breathing in private, so the show’s playing his illness like it’s legit as well.
They seem to have abandoned the notion of Ashland being a sinister character and are really pushing this “your love changed me” thing hard.
Perhaps they saw more value in playing out what’ll eventually be a crushing loss for Victoria. We may see Ashland’s decline and the heartbreak that’ll come for Victoria as she prepares to say goodbye.
Regardless, the wedding will be completed and seal the deal on Victoria’s marriage to Ashland.
Victoria originally decided to move ahead with the ceremony to protect the Newman-Locke merger, but she admitted she still loved Ashland – and we believe her.
It’s easy to believe Ashland loves Victoria too based on how he behaves with her. Victoria and Ashland will plan on making the most of the time they have left – even if it’s only a few months.
Ashland and Victoria’s honeymoon will kick off following the wedding, but we’ll see how long that actually lasts.
They may be eager to get home and make sure things are running smoothly at Newman-Locke since that both matters a great deal to them.
Nevertheless, Victoria and Ashland should at least get a night or two to themselves.
