In tonight’s CSI: Vegas episode, the sanctity of the Crime Lab was being questioned. The supposed evidence they found in a storage locker had made it look like former employee David Hodges had manufactured evidence in several cases and so his old friends Sara Sidle, Gil Grissom, and Jim Brass were combining their experience as well as expertise to prove he wad framed.
There was no way a guy like Hodges would be guilty. He also wouldn’t be dumb enough to leave evidence of all his supposed crimes in one convenient place that a known criminal just happened to lead them to. Hodges was smarter than that. He self-surrendered. He turned himself in. He and his lawyer thought it would be best. It would also help them build a case proving his innocence and this way at least assured they got a look at the evidence that much sooner.
Former members of the Crime Lab weren’t going to let this injustice stand. They were proving their friend’s innocence as current members of the new modern-day version of the Crime Lab were working on a new case. The new guys had to deal with increase media attention and pressure to close their cases properly. Maxine Roby and the others were investigating a couple murdered on their wedding day.
The couple was Dr. Nate Kessler and Dr. Jinny Lee. The couple wanted to spend the night together before the wedding and unfortunately, the killer used the opportunity to kill them both. The families had to be notified at the wedding venue because they had all gone there to wait for the couple. The Crime Lab used the opportunity to question the guests. They asked him when they last saw the couple and if they noticed any problems.
Everyone had nothing but good things to say. But one of their “friends” had to be a perp. Max’s team learned that the car that visited the property frequently had been there during the time of the murder and that whoever killed the couple later drove off in the said car. Allie and Joshua followed up on the car lead. The car leads them to a swingers club. Both Jinny and Nate were members.
They were going to be heavily missing there because they were both so popular and the car that frequented their house had belonged to the club. It was borrowed by anyone who needed to use it. There was no sign-in sheet. There were no security cameras. The only thing the two could get from the swingers’ club was a roster sheet. They ended up finding a friend of the departed couple on the list. And he hadn’t been attending with his wife.
It was the whole being married thing that stopped him from mentioning the sex club. The guy didn’t want to cause issues with his wife and so he plays away and she pretends not to notice. Allie and Joshua met the woman that the friend likes to take to the sex club. She had glitter on her. just like one of the victims. She said she got it in one of the specials rooms at the club and so the crime lab followed up on it. They went back to the club. They checked out the room. They also found a hidden camera taking pictures of everyone who had been in the room and so they continued their investigation from there. Everyone who was caught on camera suddenly had an increase in club dues. It was clear they were being blackmailed and it also became clear that the engaged couple stopped paying the blackmailer.
They withdrew their club dues a couple of weeks ago. The owner of the sex club was brought in and questioned. They noticed he was wearing the same boots that showed marks at the crime scene. There was also one large bit of evidence. They found a picture of the female victim on the night she died with a man’s boots appearing in the corner. Those boots looked like just the club owner’s ones.
Joshua asked the owner to remove his boots. He and Max noticed that he struggled with it and that’s because he has a special condition that means he suffers frequent mini-strokes. He couldn’t steady his hands to take off his shoes much less use a gun with precision. Only the crime lab suspected his boots would be a match for what they found at the murder scene and so they tested it. And it was revealed that the boots were used. Just not by a man.
The killer was a woman. It was the owner’s second in command at the sex club. The killer was in on the blackmail and she killed the couple because she wanted to make a lesson out of them. If they revealed how to get out from under the club’s thumb, the others would stop paying the blackmail money as well. The killer was taken into custody and arrested for double homicide.
Max closed her case. Sara and Gil however weren’t done. They learned that Hodges got married. He and his wife put everything in storage and they haven’t touched the area in months. It seems the man framing Hodges had broken into the garage and stolen some of Hodges’s things. They even killed the guard dog next door and so Sara and Gil believe they’ve found the evidence they needed when they dug up the dog and proved he was killed.
Only Max told them that’s not going to be enough.
THE END!
