In tonight’s The Resident episode, Devon meets the new collection of interns. One intern named Trevor is already too cocky. Conrad brings his daughter to see Aunty Kit but she cannot babysit. Dr. Bell walks with Conrad to see the childcare center and tries to talk him into coming back. Conrad doesn’t see how this could happen. Bell asks him to help out for the day. Just then AJ comes in. His mom Carol is in the hospital again.
Trevor talks to Billie on break. They make a pact not to be sure they are related, she is his mom. Conrad and AJ visit Carol. She has been losing weight, not responding to antibiotics, and is really tired. Conrad promises to get answers.
Devon deals with Trevor in the ER as he wants to take all of the complicated cases. Meanwhile, Leela’s parents come to visit. She burns lunch as she is already stressed. She doesn’t want them to know she is living with Devon.
Conrad visits the ED. Trevor watches his expertise from a distance. After, he tells AJ Carol has low cortisol. She has adrenal insufficiency. AJ is thrilled it isn’t cancer. Later, Trevor has a terrible bedside manner which earns him papa duty.
Leela is sensitive at lunch. Her parents wear on her nerves. Carol thanks Conrad for his help and then asks if he is happy. He says yes but seems to think about it after. Carol goes with AJ to his book signing. Trevor plants a drink near his patient’s bed to prove she is an alcoholic.
Conrad rushes to see Carol. Her labs are alarming him. On his way there, Carol drops to the floor at the book signing. They use the defibrillator. Conrad shares she has multi-organ failure.
Bell and Conrad tell AJ his mom’s immunotherapy is helping and hurting her. Meanwhile, Devon tells Trevor he has crossed the line by giving his patient a beer to prove his point. He is cutting him.
Carol cries as they tell her about what they have found. Carol doesn’t want to stop therapy. AJ tells her she needs to decide how she wants to spend her final days. AJ leaves to have a moment alone. Conrad finds him and consoles him.
Leela’s parents talk about kids and her being a surgeon. She should have a family. Her dyslexia could be dangerous. She gets angry. She is good at her job. She reveals she is going home to the place she shares with Devon.
Trevor tells Billie in the elevator it’s his last day. He also lied about medical school. It was hard and AJ got him the opportunity at Chastain. Billie talks to Conrad. He speaks with Devon and takes Trevor to see Carol. They explain her options. AJ comes in. She cries. She is unsure. After, Conrad warns Trevor that he needs to put patients at all times.
Conrad visits Devon. They talk about Trevor. Devon plans to think about it. Conrad also plans to think about his situation.
Devon meets with Trevor. He tells him about his first day. He too made a mistake. He will give Trevor one more chance. Billie rushes to see AJ. She is sorry about Carol. He tells her he didn’t get Trevor into the program. She admits she did. Conrad tells Bell he is back in. Bell is thrilled.
