In tonight’s Station 19 episode, its Christmas time. The team were all in different places in their lives and the season didn’t bring the usual joy. Jack was drinking all the time. He wasn’t drinking at work and so that was something good. He just was drinking during his off hours. Ben and his wife were fighting in court against the Millers. They were officially contesting their son’s will and they had money to fight this for years.
Montgomery has a boyfriend who gifted him a painting done of him in bed. He hated the painting. He thought it was too much and he didn’t say that to his boyfriend because he didn’t want to hurt Emmett’s feelings. Then there was Vic. Vic was cleared to return to work and she ran into her boyfriend on her first day back.
Vic and Theo are in a weird place. They’re still together. They’re just aren’t really talking to each other about anything important and Vic has used the excuse of a dead friend to put distance between them. But Theo was subbing at Station 19. He never mentioned it and she didn’t even bother telling him she was returning to work. Vic told her friends.
She told her boss. She simply forgot to mention it to her boyfriend of over a year and they once again didn’t have a conversation about it. Vic was still off as she responded to a Crisis One situation with Jack. They went to a house to assist a woman who was supposedly having a panic attack and Vic talked to the woman and found out it wasn’t a panic attack.
The woman’s name is Amy. Amy’s husband is abusive and he’s managed to convince everyone that she’s sick. He tells them that her panic attacks cause her to lash out. The truth is that he beats her and that his latest attack of him hurting her had gotten scary. Like call the cops scary. Amy was afraid of her husband and Vic tried to help by getting the woman’s toddler son away from his father. But then the guy called 911.
He threatened to report Vic for kidnapping and so it came time for Amy to talk. She had to report her husband for what he did/does. If she didn’t, it would be Vic’s career on the line and she couldn’t risk anything with a new Fire Chief in power. The city of Seattle had hired its first female Fire Chief and the woman will be coming around all the stations to inspect the place.
Vic tried to push Amy into finally coming forward. Amy refuses to do so and Jack was able to return the child to its parents. Across town, the rest of the team was helping a man pinned between two cars. The guy returned to pick up some groceries he accidentally sent to his home rather than rental. The car he parked got free and it pinned him between that and the other car. The team needed use the PRT. It was a mobile OR. It was the only way to keep the poor guy alive to get to the hospital. Captain Beckett called in for the PRT and he wasn’t getting anything from the new Fire Chief. He was just getting the runaround. Ben was getting tired of waiting and so he said he was going to use the PRT whether they get permission or not. And that’s when he called Andy.
Andy was at their station helping with the toy drive. Ben asked her to come to the scene with the PRT and with Carina who was also a doctor. The victim meanwhile called his wife. He told her about the accident and she drove right over to be with him in case the worst happened. Meanwhile Vic was saved by Jack. He reported to the responding cops about Amy making a claim and they searched Amy. They found bruises on her. Her husband was arrested and Vic once again talked to Amy about pressing charges. Vic reminded Amy that her son isn’t safe as long as his father is around. Her husband was also going to be even angrier if he gets released from prison and he returns home to her. And so she has to leave.
Vic talked Amy into leaving. Amy has a cousin. She already had a bag packed and so she left. Ben’s situation also took a turn because they got the PRT and they were able to remove Terrence. He began flatling right away. They had to drive him to the hospital while they were opening him up and the family rushed to Grey Sloane to be with him. Sullivan and Andy had watched Terrence with his wife. Their marriage was never like that. Even when it was at their best, they didn’t have what Terrence and his wife have. They were two messed up people who were raised by messed up people and they didn’t know what makes a good marriage or how to choose the right partner. They acknowledge this. And then they made peace with their divorce.
Vic also got benched from work by Jack. He told her that she wasn’t allowed to ruin Miller’s legacy and so he benched her and she realized that she needed to work on herself. She came clean to Theo about the kiss with Jack. She apologized. She told him she loves him. She also said it was okay if he wanted to leave her and he doesn’t want to do that. He loves her too. Theo said he was in it for the long haul and so Vic agreed to do the necessary work on herself.
Later, Carina announced to the team that she and Maya were trying to have a baby and they were glad for the couple. And they got to celebrate the holidays with little Pru who was allowed to visit them.
THE END!
