Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that the Valentine’s Day drama has been delayed, but DOOL Head Writer Ron Carlivati has promised Salem romance is still coming after the Olympic break. Let’s talk about the show’s tricky situation and why this romantic holiday will come a little late.
After Days aired their February 3 show, it didn’t take long for complaints to flood social media.
Many fans expected more of a cliffhanger since DOOL won’t return until February 21 due to the Winter Olympics. However, there’s a good reason the show didn’t offer some epic ending and leave us hanging.
In an interview with SOD, Ron Carlivati revealed that they didn’t know for sure whether they’d be off the air for the Winter Olympics or not.
Since they didn’t have confirmation that Days wouldn’t proceed as planned, they had to keep writing.
By the time Carlivati and his team received word that the Winter Olympics would indeed preempt Days for two weeks, it was too late to make adjustments.
They’d already written so far ahead that they couldn’t include a more explosive cliffhanger or alter what they’d written so far.
Even so, Carlivati seemed OK with that since he tries to keep even your average episode entertaining and leave fans wanting more.
Viewers still saw some decent cliffhanger moments – and several stories were heating up enough to make us eager to get back to them once the Winter Olympics wind down.
There was just one issue: delaying Valentine’s Day in Salem.
“So, the only thing that gets disrupted a little bit is that it kind of screwed up where Valentine’s Day falls, so the audience will see that play out after the break,” Carlivati said.
Of course, Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) mentioned planning to propose to Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) on Valentine’s Day.
There’ll be some other couple celebrations and perhaps some devilish disasters, so it’s good that fans will still get a chance to see everything that goes down.
