General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Monday, February 21, reveals that Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) brought up a mystery nanny while Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) attacked Peter August (Wes Ramsey) and fled into the woods.
At the cabin on Monday’s GH episode, Maxie decided to drop the act and admit she planned to escape the first chance she got.
Maxie was done pretending this was some romantic refuge and hoped Peter could be honest with her in return.
Maxie wanted to go back to the beginning and brought up the death of the man she really loved: Nathan West (Ryan Paevey).
Maxie argued that Peter manipulated Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan) into convincing Nathan to go public about being Cesar Faison’s (Anders Hove) son.
That led to Nathan getting shot and killed, so Maxie wondered if that was part of the plan.
Peter assured Maxie that he didn’t orchestrate that, but it couldn’t have worked out better if he’d planned it.
Peter knew Maxie never would’ve given him a chance if Nathan had stayed in the picture.
Maxie insisted that Peter took advantage of her grief, so she convinced herself Nathan’s brother was the next best thing.
Maxie never looked past the façade to see the horror underneath and blamed herself for that.
Maxie declared that she dug this hole, so she guessed she’d have to climb out or die trying.
Maxie attacked Peter by giving him a knee to the groin and bolted out the door.
Peter was clearly in a lot of pain on the floor, but he shouted that he’d never let Maxie go.
In the woods, Maxie looked up at the night sky and remembered how to guide herself using the stars based on Damian Spinelli’s (Bradford Anderson) lessons.
Maxie
ultimately found a clearing and tried to get the attention of a car that was approaching.
At the Swiss WSB office, found a property near the salt mines that had been sold to an Octavian Stone 10 years ago.
Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) realized that had to be Peter and strategized with Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) as well as Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) before they surrounded the cabin with guns drawn.
At the Metro Court, Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) informed Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) that Leo Falconeri (Easton Rocket Sweda) had been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.
There was also talk about Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) planning to adopt Leo, which Ava approved of and thought Julian Jerome (William deVry) would as well.
Ava wished she’d been more of an aunt to Leo, so Olivia suggested it was never too late. That led to Ava approaching Leo and chatting with him about art.
As for Laura Collins (Genie Francis), she chewed Esme for being late to their Metro Court meeting and thought some things needed to change.
Laura was sick of Esme’s sense of entitlement and lack of respect.
Laura also brought up how Esme pushed back after she learned her access to Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) had been restricted.
Esme acted like working with Ryan had given her a sense of purpose and suggested Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) was the only one who truly cared about her.
Laura insisted she cared too along with Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) and felt there must be someone else in Esme’s life.
Esme admitted there was once and recalled a nanny who raised her after her adopted parents died.
Laura wondered where that nanny was now, but Esme suggested that kids grow up and nannies move on.
After Laura advised Esme to get more of a support system than Spencer, she assured Esme that anyone important to her grandson was important to her.
Laura also ended up talking to Ned about Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot), who was cleared of all charges and contemplating a lawsuit.
Ned mentioned how Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) didn’t know about the Ice Princess being stolen while he was alive, so Laura hinted that maybe that was the point.
At Kelly’s, Trina Robinson (Sydney Mikayla) admitted that Spencer sent her a Valentine’s Day gift – or at least a gift that Laura passed along on Valentine’s Day.
Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) was upset over Trina being treated like a sidepiece, but Trina made it clear she wouldn’t let anyone do that.
Talk turned to Josslyn and Cameron Webber (William Lipton) sleeping together for the first time, so Trina quizzed her about that big step.
Joss admitted it felt natural and that Cameron made her feel special.
Josslyn also insisted that Trina deserved to be someone’s one and only, but she didn’t think Spencer could ever give Trina that.
Later, Esme joined Josslyn and Trina to deliver an apology.
Esme admitted to being intimidated by both of them and hoped to make amends, so Trina said apology accepted.
Unfortunately, Josslyn couldn’t resist stirring the pot by bringing up the gift Spencer had given Trina, so Esme wasn’t happy about that.
Meanwhile, Nikolas Cassadine’s (Marcus Coloma) visit to Spring Ridge started off OK until he started badmouthing Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy).
Spencer lashed out and wound up acting like Ava was all Nikolas cared about. He still felt like Nikolas was putting Ava ahead of his own child.
Nikolas refused to help Spencer wiggle out of taking responsibility for his actions, but he felt there was room in his heart for both Ava and Spencer.
Nikolas wanted to visit Spencer again, but Spencer warned Nikolas that he shouldn’t bother.
General Hospital spoilers say Victor will keep trying to bring the Cassadine family together for his twisted scheme, so stay tuned.
