In tonight’s Chicago Fire episode, Little Otis still hasn’t slept through the night. He keeps his parents up all hours. But Cruz wouldn’t have it any other way. He loves being a father and he’s a good one. It didn’t matter to him that he was tired at work or that he needed coffee now more than sugar.

He wouldn’t change a single thing. Cruz was in working shape by the next morning and he and his friends at the station responded to a fire at an apartment building. By time they showed up, there was a little kid dangling out the window. They tried to get a bag to help him down and the kid dropped first. It was Cruz who caught him. Cruz also questioned the little boy who said his name is Javi. Javi said there were two of his friends still inside the fire.

The teams went in. They squash the fire. They rescued two other little boys and all three kids went to the hospital. Cruz asked where their parents were. Javi said he didn’t have parents. Things got stranger from there. The fire was arson. They were three places of ignition and there was a lock on the door. One of the three boys had set the fires. Seager was brought in to investigate.

She asked the firefighters what they saw when they first arrived at the scene. No one had noticed the lock on the door. Not until Seager pointed it out. Seager spoke to the apartment owner. She works with a charity though her church to take in unaccompanied minors.

The three boys were from Honduras. They were waiting at the apartment until family members could be found and identified. After the fire was doused, Violet checked on Gallo. She knows he has a thing about kids in fires. Gallo said he was okay and he also said he tore off the door in his rush to get to the kids and so maybe okay was a stretch. He thanked Violet for checking on him.

He also antagonized her boyfriend. Hawkins was filling in for Brett because she went to visit Casey and so Hawkins said there was no one else that was both good at the job and could fill in at the last minute. And Gallo didn’t like Hawkins being there.

Gallo was acting like a jealous boyfriend. He has no right to do so. He was the one that pushed Violet away and she was now happy with someone else. She and Hawkins kept things professional at work. There was no need for Gallo to get snippy. To make things worse, Hawkins noticed the tension. He later asked Violet about him and Violet confessed that she used to have a thing with him. Hawkins asked if there’s a chance Gallo wants her back. Violet said it wasn’t a possibility and they let the topic go. They were later in to check on Javi. Javi had run away from the hospital and he was trying to make his way back to the apartment.

It seems the fire had been the boys’ fault. They had wanted to know if golf balls were flammable and so they put in a bowl and a lit a match. They didn’t know that those little things were highly combustible. The balls escaped the ball. They went all over the place, spreading the fire. Seager ruled the fire accidental. Then Javi ran away. Cruz had panicked because he developed a bond with Javi and so it’s a good thing Javi found him. Javi managed to find Station 51. He walked in the rain and he needed to get checked out. But he was fine. Javi found the station by reading it off the jacket Cruz gave him.

Cruz asked the charity what will happen to Javi now. It seems the woman he was staying with had thought three boys was too much work and so she was only going to keep the youngest. The second boy had a cousin in New York. It was just Javi that didn’t have a place to go. Cruz thought about it. He considered the ramifications if he took Javi in. His son is still small and he still needed to talk to his wife. He later went home. He told Chloe about what kind of day he’s had. He told her how much Javi has been through. He also asked if they could take him in. They didn’t have the room. But what they lack in space, they can more than make up in love.

Javi came to live with them. He shared a room with the baby and it wasn’t long before the baby was crying in the middle of the night, but this time Javi was there and he sang a lullaby to the baby to get him to go back to sleep. Kidd meanwhile pranked Mason. The other guys were going to do it until Kidd told them to stop because she didn’t want Mason to feel like an outsider and it wasn’t till she saw how disappointed Mason was to not be pranked that she changed her mind. She ended up pranking him with Seager’s help. The ladies loved their prank. They covered Mason’s car in post-its. It was pretty lame. Mason brought it up at Molly’s. And that when they all learned that Kidd was the one who pranked him.

And Hawkins and Violet weren’t as discreet as they were supposed to be because someone saw them kissing on the job and now brass wants to talk to Hawkins.

THE END!
