The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that we have to ask: Is Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) lying about Rey Rosales’ (Jordi Vilasuso) accident and covering up Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) guilt?
Y&R fans know Ashland is indeed a skilled liar, but he also can’t bear the thought of hurting Victoria any more than she’s already been hurt.
That combination could mean that Ashland is now lying to protect Victoria from the pain of knowing she killed Rey.
It’s reasonable to speculate that Ashland is deceiving Victoria since he’s done it so many times before.
We only have Ashland’s word to go on when it comes to what he witnessed, so we have to consider the possibility that Victoria is indeed to blame.
Ashland knows that news would absolutely devastate Victoria.
Victoria is already been holding herself responsible for being out on the road, but Ashland keeps insisting that it’s not Victoria’s fault.
That may not be true if Ashland actually saw something different than he claims.
After all, the story seems rather odd, doesn’t it? Why would Rey be careless enough to swerve into Victoria’s lane, even in a hurry through the fog?
Rey was a distinguished detective with the GCPD and not someone you’d think would be reckless behind the wheel.
We’d say Rey was probably the safest, most sensible guy around town – Mr. Cautious!
It doesn’t make sense for Rey to drive like a maniac and cause this big crash.
Rey would surely be more careful than that since he spent his days saving lives and protecting the people of Genoa City.
Compare that to Victoria, who was driving distracted as she wiped away tears and talked to Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) on the phone.
It would add up for Victoria to be responsible here.
Victoria remembers the headlights coming at her, but what if she had drifted over into Rey’s lane without realizing it?
Then, Victoria could’ve finally spotted the headlights in the fog and veered into that tree.
During the week of April 25-29, Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) will make a stunning discovery. Could that be related to the crash investigation?
Chance might notice that the skid marks on the road are inconsistent with Ashland’s story or something along those lines.
It’d put Chance in a tight spot if he realizes Victoria is at fault and Ashland is covering for her.
It’s awfully convenient for Ashland to blame the dead guy who can’t confirm or deny.
If Rey is actually the guilty party in his own fatal accident, what a horrible way to write him out!
It just makes more sense for Victoria to be the culpable one in all this.
Of course, we can’t rule out the idea of Ashland causing the crash, but perhaps the real goal is to use his worst flaw in a different way.
Ashland lied for selfish gain in the beginning, but now he may be lying for Victoria’s own good – to spare her the knowledge that she killed her friend and Sharon Rosales’ (Sharon Case) beloved husband.
That doesn’t make it right, but it does mean this storyline could get messy!
