In tonight’s Masterchef Junior episode, it’s down to the Top 11. The little chefs enter the kitchen with a scream. They meet with the judges; Gordon, Aaron, and Daphne. They are given a mystery box challenge. They open the boxes to find a walnut. The versatile nut will be tonight’s focus as the chefs need to create a dish using walnuts. The clock starts now with 60 minutes to prepare a dish.

Ivy is making a walnut pancake. Grayson is making a rack of lamb with a walnut crust. Cruz is making a walnut berry crumble. Liya is making a shrimp dish with walnuts. A’Dan gets overwhelmed when he realizes this dish is raw. Gordon tells him to take a moment and think. The time is up. A’Dan is crying. He may not make it to the balcony.

The judges test the dishes. Andrew’s whip cream has melted. A’dan’s dish is messy. Abir ran out of time as his plating looks rushed. Molly’s presentation looks rough. Liya is asked to bring her dish to the front. She has a fried shrimp with a bowl of rice with walnuts in a carved-out pineapple. They love it. Cruz is brought to the front. He brings his mixed berry walnut crumble with whipped cream. They also enjoyed his dish. Ciara is called next. She brings a pear cake with walnuts and cream. Well done, they tell her. Gordon thinks it is incredible.

The judges meet on the side. They declare the first person to make it to the Top 10 is Ciara. It is now time for the elimination challenge. They put on their black aprons and line up. Gordon announces last season’s winner Che will come to the stage. Everyone is thrilled to see him.

Gordon and Che plan to show the group how to flambé. After they are shown, they must pick a dish and create a flambé in just 45 minutes. Time starts now!

The 9 chefs run around to put together their dishes. Andrew is doing bananas foster rum cake. Liya is making a cherry flambé. Gordon teases her that her cheeks are red. Grayson I making scallops and clams. A’Dan is doing a lamb dish. Ivy is a little worried about flambé. She does it and does it well.

Several other chefs follow suit by trying out their first flambé. Molly is making veal and is worried she won’t have enough time. It’s down to 8 minutes left. Andrew hopes his cakes cook on time. Liya cannot get her caramel to cook. They start to plate. Andrew is very behind. Ciara yells from the top as she isn’t part of the challenge. She tries to encourage her fellow chefs.

The time is up. Liya is crying as she ran out of time and she feels her plating is poor. The judges make their rounds. Several dishes look great while others are missing ingredients. They call up their first dish, Starla. She has made a steak with tequila flambé with charred corn. They all taste it. It is missing salt and starch. Gordon needs her to step it up. He knows she can do better.

The next person called up is A’Dan. He already knows his pan-seared lamb has too many fried capers. He flambés in Sambuca. The lamb is overcooked and the plate is somewhat messy.

Andrew is up next. He brings his rum cake minus the bananas. Gordon tells him he tasted the bananas he left off his plate. They were good. His cake is undercooked. Andrew is frustrated. Che says goodbye as the judges decide what to do.

Andrew is eliminated from the show. He is in tears but feels lucky and plans to keep baking. Everyone hugs him goodbye.

THE END!
