General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Tuesday, May 17, reveals that Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) offered big money to get rid of Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) – and Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) learned Spencer Cassadine’s (Nicholas Chavez) secret. Here’s how all the GH drama played out.
At the Metro Court Gardens, Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) assured Leo Quartermaine (Easton Rocket Sweda) that he’d keep his promise to sing. Chase also refused to give any song choice hints to Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton).
Leo wondered where Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) was since he was supposed to help with the performance. Meanwhile, Leo met with Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) privately about the risky merger and the possibility of a mutually beneficial agreement.
Valentin hoped there was a way they could both get what they wanted. Ned had to get back to Leo’s party, but Valentin suggested they should talk again before Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) shut Ned out entirely.
Once Ned was gone, Valentine called Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) and felt good about his chances of staying at the helm.
Back at the Metro Court Gardens, Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) overheard Michael talking to Drew about their need for investors and wanted in. Michael said it’d be different if Carly was offering up Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) blood money, but he refused to let her risk her own wealth.
Over with Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna), he gave Chase a nudge toward making his move with Brook Lynn. Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) did the same with BLQ since she thought it was obvious Brook Lynn had feelings for Chase.
After Chase performed one of the songs Brook Lynn wrote at Leo’s request, she was deeply moved. It led to Chase and Brook Lynn deciding they should go somewhere and talk about what they were both feeling.
Unfortunately, Linc Brown (Dan Buran) the music producer showed up and insisted they weren’t going anywhere without him. Brook Lynn and Chase were caught off guard as Linc revealed he had something to say that wouldn’t wait.
In a moment alone with Carly, Sam talked about Esme’s private adoption and how she’d been brought into a family with old money. Sam also knew Esme had siblings she wasn’t in touch with, but there was no criminal record and nothing much to go on.
Sam decided Spencer might know more, so she headed to Kelly’s and asked who Esme Prince really was. Spencer wasn’t keen on opening up at first, but he eventually swore Sam to secrecy and got her word as a Cassadine.
That led to Spencer admitting Esme was a monster and revealing his takedown plan. Sam found out about the pills Spencer found, though she felt it might be impossible to prove Esme drugged Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) at the cabin.
Spencer gave Sam the name Maggie Fitzgerald and explained how Esme lied about not being in touch with her beloved nanny. Sam vowed to look into Maggie and pushed Spencer to be careful since he was playing with fire.
At Wyndemere, Esme ranted about Spencer violating her privacy by digging through her room since he didn’t trust her.
Esme also talked about Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) being a shelter from the storm and felt that Ava was ungrateful in her treatment of him.
Nikolas got a bit offended, but Esme smoothed things over and acted like Nik should be able to choose who lives under his roof. Ava came home soon after and faced off with Esme, who knew Trina was like another daughter to her.
Esme pointed out that Ava didn’t have primary custody of Avery Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola) and called attention to Kiki Jerome’s (Hayley Erin) death, so Ava flew into a rage.
As Ava moved in close to Esme’s face, she offered a fierce warning. Ava told Esme to keep her daughters’ names out of her mouth – or else Ava would make Esme sorry that she ever drew breath!
Once Esme was out of the room, Ava made it crystal clear that she wanted Esme gone. Nikolas insisted Esme was a guest in his house, so Ava wondered about her own place at Wyndemere. Ava asked if she was Nikolas’ wife or his guest – because she couldn’t be both.
Nikolas wanted Ava to trust him and accept that he was doing what was best for all of them. However, Ava pointed out that Nikolas was only married to her – at least for the moment.
After Ava stormed out, Esme came down with a suitcase and told Nikolas that she was leaving. Nikolas insisted Esme would stay and that he’d make sure Ava was on the same page.
Once Esme made it back up to her room, she opened her suitcase – which only had her special shoebox inside. Esme smiled deviously over all her manipulation working.
Back with Ava, she tracked Spencer down at Kelly’s and offered to loosen the purse strings on his trust fund. Ava suggested $10 grand a week for Spencer’s allowance, so he wondered what the catch was. All Ava wanted in return was for Spencer to take Esme out of Wyndemere and never come back.
Over with Sasha Gilmore Corbin (Sofia Mattsson), she was nervous over Felty (Brian Norris) the photographer being at the same restaurant. Gladys eventually spotted Felty and cornered him alone, so she played along when she heard about the deal he was making with Sasha.
After Gladys gave Felty his memory card and got him to delete all the scandalous photos, she returned to the table following a trade. Gladys pretended she’d been off playing Bingo on her phone and got her chance to speak with Sasha alone after Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) left.
Once Gladys pointed out Sasha could tell her anything, Sasha acted like she’d been honest. Gladys eventually confronted Sasha with pills she got from Felty and was eager for an explanation.
