The Young and the Restless (Y&R) recap for Monday, July 11, teases that Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) will quit and break Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) heart. An Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) restraining order trap will also come into play as Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) seeks Diane Jenkins’ (Susan Walters) help.
At Newman Enterprises, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will bring Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) some flowers to welcome her back and will admit he’s sucking up to the new boss.
Victoria will be thrilled over Nick’s return to Newman Enterprises and will confirm that she wants him to be her COO.
Victoria will also mention her plan for Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) to expose Ashland on his anonymous podcast.
This news will leave Nick worried that the move could backfire, but Victoria will think she’s proven she knows exactly how to handle Ashland.
At Society, Michael will give Victor updates on how Ashland chartered a jet to Chicago before losing the spy who was tailing him.
Victor will have an idea on how to deal with Ashland and will think Michael is the one to make it work.
At Newman Media, Adam will assure Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) that he’s done playing his father’s games and wants her to remain in charge of the division.
Sally will wonder if Adam is really ready to walk away from the company and his family permanently.
Adam will once again assure Sally that she deserves this opportunity and won’t feel like he’s making a sacrifice since he won’t have to deal with his family’s “crap” anymore.
Sally will fret over Adam getting caught up in a revenge plot and will push him to listen to her since she has his best interests at heart – unlike Ashland.
However, Adam won’t think Sally understands what it’s like to be the outcast of the Newman family.
After Adam says all he can think about is how sweet it’d be to get even, Victor will overhear and ask if his son really feels that way.
Sally will leave them to talk, so that’ll bring an emotional discussion about how Adam feels tolerated rather than appreciated.
Victor will act like Newman Media can be Adam’s dominion, but Adam will think he’s been cast aside while even Nick – who wanted nothing to do with the family business for years – is leapfrogging over him.
Adam won’t like that he’s been a placeholder for Victoria twice now, but Victor will remind Adam of his previous damage to the family, including the fact that he wanted to kill his father.
If Adam acts vengefully now, Victor will think it’s only going to reaffirm his siblings’ suspicions about him.
Adam won’t be interested in working hard and humbling himself in hopes that someday things might change.
Victor will point out that Adam is of his blood and that if he walks away from this, it’ll break his father’s heart.
As Victor leaves, he’ll pause outside the door looking choked up.
In the park on Monday’s Y&R episode, Ashland will spot Diane and Harrison Abbott (Kellen Enriquez) eating ice cream together.
After Diane sends Harrison to play with friends nearby, she’ll notice Ashland and remind him of the restraining order that prevents him from being around Harrison.
Ashland will insist he misses his son and will think he can convince Harrison to keep their visit a secret.
Nevertheless, Diane will refuse to jeopardize her relationship with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and will maintain that the answer is no.
At Crimson Lights, Billy will eventually sell Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) on the idea of exposing Ashland on The Grinning Soul – but only if Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) gives him the thumbs up from a legal standpoint.
Later, Billy will begin his anonymous podcast and point out that thanks to a highly placed source at Newman Enterprises, they are now able to reveal the true story of the rise and fall of Ashland Locke aka “The Locke-ness Monster.”
Billy will argue that there’s no need to feel sorry for Ashland, who isn’t dying and never had cancer since the whole thing was a scam.
Back in Victoria’s office, she’ll celebrate her favorite brother rejoining the company with Nick, Victor and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott).
Victor will admit Adam no longer wants any part of the family business and will suggest whether Sally remains as Newman Media’s CEO is up to Victoria.
After Victoria decides to give that more thought later, she’ll share multiple toasts with Victor, Nikki and Nick as they all form a team.
Once Sally meets up with Adam at Society, she’ll learn that he quit Newman and will wonder if she should quit in solidarity.
Adam won’t want that, but Sally will doubt that Victoria and Nick will keep her around anyway.
After Adam suggests he perhaps should’ve stayed longer to protect Sally’s role, he’ll act like he just couldn’t take it anymore.
Sally will assure Adam that she has his back and will receive Adam’s warning about what comes next.
Adam will acknowledge that Ashland is plotting an attack – and regardless of what Adam decides to do, he’ll know everyone at Newman might assume the worst.
That could affect Sally since she’s romantically involved with Adam, so he’ll urge her to watch her back since things are about to get ugly.
At the coffeehouse, Diane will meet with Michael, who’ll fish to find out if her outings with Harrison are unsupervised.
When Diane realizes this is about Ashland, she’ll insist she’d shut him down and take Harrison home if he approached her.
Michael will admit that’s the opposite of what he wants and will reveal Victor’s plan to catch Ashland violating the restraining order, which could result in jail time.
Angry Diane won’t think Summer Newman-Abbott (Allison Lanier) would want Harrison involved in this scheme – and she’ll feel certain that Kyle would be livid.
Michael will suggest that Ashland might not even be in town, so Diane will admit she already saw him today.
Once Diane explains that Ashland asked to see Harrison as Michael predicted, she’ll reveal that she shut him down and took Harrison home – just like she said she would.
Diane will push Michael to stop trying to get her to help and will argue that he’s already missed his chance.
Once Ashland returns to his suite at the athletic club, he’ll rant about not even being able to say hello to his own “damn son.”
Ashland will then receive a text that urges him to check out a link to The Grinning Soul’s latest podcast.
“What fresh hell is this?” Ashland will ask after he gazes at his phone.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Ashland will pay the price for his many mistakes, so don’t miss what’s ahead on Y&R.
