Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Wednesday, July 27, reveals that Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu) shot the gunman to save Ava Vitali’s (Tamara Braun) life while Orpheus (George DelHoyo) threatened Steve Johnson’s (Stephen Nichols) kids. Here’s how all the DOOL drama played out.
After Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) filled Jada in on the robbery situation, they took off to investigate since shots were fired near the jewelry store.
Meanwhile, Ava warned Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash) not to die on her and got her phone out to call an ambulance.
The gunman warned Ava to put the phone down and ultimately decided she’d have to die, too.
Fortunately, Jada appeared with Rafe in the nick of time.
Since the gunman was about to pull the trigger on Ava, Jada fired her own weapon at the perp.
Rafe checked and confirmed that the gunman was dead, so Jada called an ambulance for Jake as Ava panicked.
At the hospital, Kayla Brady (Martha Madison) wrapped Nicole Walker’s (Arianne Zucker) ankle sprain before Nicole shared a tender moment of gratitude with Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan).
Next on Wednesday’s Days episode, Kayla rushed Jake to surgery – or at least tried to.
Sadly, Kayla returned to Ava later with the news that Jake coded on the way to the operating table.
After Kayla admitted Jake didn’t make it, Ava reeled over her new fiancé’s death.
Back with Rafe, he found Nicole with Eric and brought them up to speed on Jada shooting the gunman.
Rafe also admitted Jake had been shot and apologized to Eric for being rather harsh with him before.
Elsewhere, Eric found Jada and learned she was having a tough time following the shooting.
Although Jada did what she had to do, she was still rattled over taking the gunman’s life.
Eric offered some comfort and thought Jada should be proud of how she handled herself.
At the pub, Steve wanted to make sure Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth) wasn’t going to revisit his plans for revenge on Orpheus, who joined them and also wondered about Justin’s retribution.
Justin made it clear that he still hated Orpheus for his role in Adrienne Kiriakis’ (Judi Evans) death, but he wasn’t fixated on revenge since Orpheus was already dead to him.
After Justin left on Wednesday’s Days episode, Steve suggested Orpheus should seek a fresh start away from Salem.
Orpheus mentioned Seattle as an option and pointed out that’s where Steve’s children currently lived.
Steve asked if that was a threat and made it clear that Orpheus should stay away from his kids.
Orpheus smiled and guessed he’d stick around Salem if Steve insisted.
At the Kiriakis mansion, Alexander “Alex” Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) told Sonny Kiriakis (Zach Tinker) about constantly butting heads with their twin brothers in Phoenix.
Alex wanted a break since they seemed to have a problem with every decision he made at the research company.
After Bonnie Kiriakis (Judi Evans) appeared, Alex introduced himself and pretended he wanted her to pay for killing his mother.
Anjelica Deveraux (Judith Chapman) died of a heart attack after a faceoff with Bonnie in her hotel room, so Alex acted outraged over how Bonnie handled all that.
Alex gripped a necktie and terrified Bonnie, but he eventually laughed it off and admitted he wasn’t holding a grudge.
Since Anjelica was no saint, Alex understood that she’d probably gotten herself into a mess.
Besides, Alex couldn’t hate someone who made his dad happy, so he gave Bonnie a hug.
Justin also got one once he reunited with his son – and Alex soon revealed that he’d like to stick around through the summer.
When Alex hinted about working at Titan with Sonny, he acted like they understood each other and would get along better than he did with their twin brothers.
