The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Monday, August 29, reveals that Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) will spy Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Chelsea Lawson’s (Melissa Claire Egan) hug – and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) won’t be able to fight Diane Jenkins’ (Susan Walters) pull.
At Newman Media, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will wrap up a strategy session with Sally and Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) before speaking with Sally privately about the Adam situation.
Sally will assure Nick that she won’t publish the story and that she’s an impenetrable fortress when it comes to the Newmans’ secrets.
After Sally warns about Adam being after revenge, Nick will admit he thinks she’s better off without his brother.
Although Nick will wish for an actual change, he’ll reflect on how Adam’s turnarounds never last long.
Despite everything, Sally will confess she’s still worried about Adam.
In the park, Chelsea and Adam will try to act like everything’s fine, but they’ll ultimately be too exhausted to keep it up.
After Chelsea admits she recorded her final podcast with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson), she’ll talk about her career being back in limbo.
Adam will relate since he had his perfect future at Newman Enterprises yanked away so many times.
After Adam brings Chelsea up to speed on the Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) cover-up, Chelsea will marvel over the parallels between that and what happened with AJ Montalvo in Kansas.
Adam will feel Victor did more harm than good, but Chelsea will point out that Adam would go to extremes to protect Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) and maybe even her.
Although Adam will confirm that he would, he’ll also know everything decent Victor does comes at a price.
Chelsea will realize Adam is ready to retaliate, but she’ll advise against it since he can’t shield Connor from the fallout.
After Chelsea urges Adam to avoid a war and let go of his grudges, Adam will note that she’s not the first person to tell him to break the cycle.
Adam will then tell Chelsea about Jack’s job offer along with the fact that he turned it down.
Chelsea will eventually suggest it’s amazing that they don’t hate each other after everything they’ve been through – and Adam will also be glad they could support each other emotionally.
After Adam puts his arm around Chelsea, she’ll pull him into a hug – just in time for Sally to spy them in the distance.
At the Abbott house, Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) will pick up on Jack’s chipper mood and quiz him about it.
Jack will mostly dodge questions until Traci wonders if he’s in the process of forgiving Diane.
When Jack isn’t sure that’s the right word, Traci will ask forgiveness would look like.
Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) and Allie Nguyen (Kelsey Wang) will interrupt with good news about Noah nailing down a new space for his night club.
Jack will think that calls for a celebration, so they’ll all head to Society for lunch.
Next on Monday’s Y&R episode, Diane will already be at the restaurant, where Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) will put on a fake nice act.
Nikki will suggest she’s fine waiting for Diane to self-sabotage herself right out of town.
Diane will be suspicious of Nikki’s new attitude, especially since Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) has been making changes of her own.
When Jack arrives with Traci, he’ll seem concerned about Nikki harassing Diane and wonder if everything’s all right.
Diane will admit Nikki is being bizarrely nice, so Jack will realize he jumped to conclusions.
Allie and Noah will greet Nikki on her way out before Diane gets updates on the night club.
Jack will then invite Diane to stay and celebrate, but Diane will decline since she just came for takeout and has to get back to work.
Later, Traci will bring up Diane again – though she’ll assure Jack that she’s not trying to push the two of them together.
That said, Traci will think that for somebody who doesn’t want to forgive Diane, Jack certainly wants to spend a lot of time with her.
Back at the Abbott house, Allie and Noah will kiss passionately. Once Allie starts leading Noah up the stairs, he’ll ask if she’s sure.
Allie will confirm that she is, so Noah will scamper up with her to make love.
In Talia Morgan’s (Natalie Morales) hotel suite, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) will provide info on Diane’s past.
Talia won’t want to report on a story that’s already been out there, but Phyllis will know there are things waiting to be uncovered in Los Angeles.
Phyllis will suggest she could offer juicy details that weren’t in the Restless Style story and let Talia put those out in the world while she’s investigating Diane’s activity in LA.
Talia will seem intrigued as Phyllis insists this could really be the story of the century: The Downfall of Diane Jenkins.
