Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Wednesday, August 31, teases that Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (Richard Wharton) zapped Stefan DiMera’s (Brandon Barash) Gabi Hernandez DiMera (Camila Banus) memories while EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) revealed a secret recording to trap Ava DiMera (Tamara Braun).
In the secret lab on Wednesday’s DOOL episode, Dr. Rolf used a special dial that was hooked up to Stefan’s brain.
The doc used that to make Stefan convulse in pain when he remembered sweet memories of Gabi – turning them into a negative experience instead.
Dr. Rolf later encouraged Stefan to recall positive memories of Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) – leaving his patient smiling in pleasure.
That was enough to convince Dr. Rolf that Stefan would love only Chloe when he awoke.
In the park, Rachel Black (Finley Rose Slater) was upset over the possibility of Chloe helping to send her mom away again.
After Rachel told Chloe she hated her, Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) calmed his daughter down before she dashed off to a nearby friend.
Meanwhile, Belle Brady (Martha Madison) came home to find Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) working out, but she could tell he was mostly trying to burn off his anger.
Shawn admitted that EJ called the landline about work, so Belle knew that must’ve riled her husband up.
Belle couldn’t undo her betrayal with EJ, but she didn’t like all the small talk and dancing around their issues.
After Belle suggested they should just make love and get past this, she planted a steamy kiss.
Shawn didn’t think that was the solution and took off when Brady interrupted.
While Belle reassured Brady about the custody case, Shawn got some advice from Chloe and realized he needed to make a decision.
Afterward on Wednesday’s Days episode, Shawn reconvened with Belle and acknowledged that they couldn’t go on like this.
After Shawn invited Belle to shower with him, she accepted the invitation and kissed him once again.
Back with Brady, he told Chloe that she wouldn’t have to testify against Kristen and that the worst-case scenario was sharing custody.
Brady insisted Kristen couldn’t do anything to come between them and pulled Chloe into a hug.
At DiMera Enterprises, EJ told Mr. Wei Shin (Clyde Kusatsu) that Ava saw dead people and explained that she’d been hallucinating Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash).
Ava denied that before Gabi and Li Shin (Remington Hoffman) backed her up.
However, EJ then revealed that he’d recorded his earlier conversation with Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman), who said Ava told him about her hallucination and how real it was.
After EJ played that recording, Mr. Shin decided that Ava couldn’t vote until they were able to evaluate her mental state. Li and Gabi got busted for lying, so Mr. Shin certainly wasn’t happy with them.
As for Johnny on Wednesday’s Days episode, he turned the tables by switching sides and giving Gabi his vote. That knocked EJ out of having enough support for a victory, so he fumed over Johnny playing dirty right back.
When EJ tried to throw Ava out of the DiMera mansion later, Johnny threatened to leave as well. Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) didn’t think EJ should risk losing his son over this, so EJ backed down – though he still threw his glass in frustration.
