The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Friday, September 2, teases that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) will plan a new wedding surprise while Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) pushes Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) to fire Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope).
At the ranch, Victor will quiz Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) about her plan to drive Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) out of town with the shame of Talia Morgan’s (Natalie Morales) article.
After Victor reminds Nikki that Diane is Kyle’s mother and Summer Newman-Abbott’s (Allison Lanier) mother-in-law, he’ll warn that he doesn’t want their young family to get hurt.
Other than that, Victor will be fine with however Nikki wants to blow Diane out of the water.
At Society, Summer will voice more suspicions about Talia’s Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) story, so Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) will realize her daughter still doesn’t trust her.
Summer will admit she still thinks Phyllis up to something, but she’ll back off since she made a pact with Kyle not to babysit their mothers.
At Crimson Lights, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) will find Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) and Nick helping Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster) go over her college checklist.
Faith will be headed to University of Michigan today and will thank Adam for the kidney donation that made it possible.
Once Adam steps aside with Sharon, he’ll acknowledge his own new chapter at Jabot.
Sharon will hope this isn’t about sticking it to Victor, but Adam will make it clear that he’s moving on from revenge.
After Sharon suggests Sally will be glad to hear that, Adam will seem upset to learn Sally once again confided in Sharon about him.
Sharon won’t see why Adam should care since he doesn’t want to be with Sally anymore.
Suddenly, Sally will enter and exchange a look with Adam, who’ll convince her to come out on the patio.
That’s where Adam will tell Sally about his co-CEO job at Jabot, so she’ll take a jab about how busy he is since he’s juggling revenge, too.
Adam will address Chloe Mitchell’s (Elizabeth Hendrickson) concerns about him messing with Sally’s head.
After Adam says Chloe wants him to clarify that they have no future, Sally will seem frustrated over Adam trying to cause more pain.
However, Adam will insist that Sally’s got it all wrong and that he wants to say he’s sorry.
Once Adam admits he was unfair when he didn’t let Sally weigh in, he’ll talk about how he didn’t want her to become collateral damage.
Now that Sally is proving she can shine on her own, Adam will realize he should’ve trusted her and been a team.
Since Sally can always see through his bull, Adam will hope she can see that this apology is sincere and forgive him.
At Jabot, Kyle will get the news that Adam changed his mind and took the co-CEO position after all.
Although Kyle won’t be happy about that, he’ll respect that it’s Jack’s decision to make.
Kyle will also hint about needing Jack’s help with a project and will admit it’s a wedding of sorts.
Although their wedding in Milan was beautiful, Summer missed having a celebration in Genoa City.
With that in mind, Kyle will hope to plan something at the Abbott house.
Jack will insist he’d be honored and will vow to do whatever it takes to make this celebration special.
That’ll lead to Diane overhearing and asking about the celebration, so Jack will leave Kyle to fill in his mom.
After Kyle swears Diane to secrecy, he’ll reveal he’s planning a surprise wedding gathering for Summer for all of their family and friends to witness.
Diane will think that sounds wildly romantic and will assure Kyle that she’ll help make this a spectacular day.
As Diane gets choked up about getting to be there for this milestone, she’ll touch Kyle’s arm tenderly.
Summer will think it looks like they walked in on something as she appears with Phyllis.
Diane will act like she’s just counting her blessings as usual, but there’ll be tension with Phyllis later.
After Diane suggests her earlier moment with Kyle wasn’t for public consumption, Phyllis will think that’s interesting considering so much of Diane’s life has been served up for public consumption today.
Phyllis will gloat over Talia’s banner headline and call Diane’s attention to the scandalous story about her on the magazine’s website.
Diane will act like it doesn’t bother her, but she’ll seem upset when she views “The Long and Winding Road of Diane Jenkins: Back from the Dead” on her phone.
Phyllis will pop back up to warn Diane that this is just the first in a series of articles.
In his office, Jack will get a phone notification and look glum as he looks at Diane’s exposé as well.
At the coffeehouse again, Nick will chat with Sharon about their family before getting summoned to see Victor at the ranch.
That’ll leave Sharon to ask what’s wrong when Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) walk in looking glum.
Tessa and Mariah will admit they were turned down by a private adoption attorney after being honest about their pasts.
That attorney didn’t think Mariah and Tessa would be chosen by a prospective birth mother when compared to people who didn’t have criminal records.
Sharon will think this is outrageous, but Tessa and Mariah will acknowledge that their records are far from spotless with all break-ins, robberies, blackmail and gun-stealing.
Although Mariah and Tessa will be disheartened, Sharon will push them not to give up now.
Sharon will offer a pep talk on how overcoming their pasts will make them great mothers, so Tessa and Mariah will come together with her for a group hug.
At the ranch, Victor will confess to Nikki that he can’t give up on Adam.
Once Talia’s article is published, Nikki will read it with glee and dash off to tell Talia how brilliant it is.
Next on Friday’s Y&R episode, Nick will show up to see Victor and learn this meeting is about Sally.
Although Nick will defend Sally’s leadership at Newman Media, Victor won’t think she’s up to the task since she couldn’t convince Adam to stay.
After Victor mentions Sally running Summer off to Milan, he’ll argue that he doesn’t trust that woman and suggest Nick should fire her.
