General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Friday, September 16, reveals that Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) woke up while Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) link to the victims became an investigation focus. Selina Wu (Lydia Look) and Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) also had a run-in, so let’s talk about how all the drama played out.
By the Metro Court pool, Brad Cooper (Parry Shen) went to grab drinks while Britt lounged in the sun. Moments later, Britt was taken aback when Selina sauntered over.
Selina had come to realize that Britt’s association with Brad had advantages, but Britt warned that Brad wouldn’t be Selina’s errand boy forever. Brad interrupted before Selina took off, but he thought she was warming up to Britt.
Britt argued that they were both simply useful to Selina, so Brad was curious how exactly Britt was useful. Once Britt brushed past that, she fished to find out whether Brad regretted going to work for Selina. Brad said he was fine, but Britt still wanted to check up on her bestie.
Talk turned to Cody Bell (Josh Kelly), so Britt admitted they were in a holding pattern since Cody might leave town. Brad felt that Britt was drawn to Cody’s swagger and pushed her to just go for it.
At the stables, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) mentioned Brando’s attack and wondered if Cody could tell him where he was last night. Cody admitted he didn’t have a verifiable alibi and wondered if the chief of detectives was going to interrogate him in person now.
Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) and Leo Quartermaine (Easton Rocket Sweda) walked in, so Cody took Leo over to the horses. Dante urged Brook Lynn to tell Cody not to sweat it and headed out.
Afterward, Brook Lynn questioned what it was that Cody wasn’t supposed to sweat. Leo was curious too and stayed with Cody while Brook Lynn stepped away following a phone call.
Cody blamed Dante’s comment on a trophy that he broke accidentally and talked about a horse trainer who was the closest thing to a father he ever had.
When Brook Lynn returned, she pointed out how good Cody was with Leo. Cody admitted Leo was one of the few people he didn’t have to pretend with.
After Cody suggested sometimes it was easier to start over than seek second chances, Brook Lynn was hopeful that Cody would stick around. Once Leo returned from visiting Comet, Cody agreed to help him train for competitions and gave him a hug.
At GH, Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) quizzed Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) about the tension she witnessed with Sonny at The Savoy.
Curtis downplayed it, but Jordan had a renewed interest in Sonny’s relationships since he had a close connection to Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) and Brando. It left Jordan wondering if Sonny might have other people on his bad side.
Curtis tried to cut the conversation short, so Jordan asked if they were good. A few days ago, Curtis would’ve said absolutely. After the missing divorce papers, Curtis wasn’t so sure anymore.
Jordan pointed out that they’d discovered the mistake before the wedding, so it was all good. Curtis worried about the normally organized Jordan losing such an important document and asked how she felt about him marrying Portia.
Jordan wanted Curtis to be happy, but Curtis argued that honesty was so important to him. Jordan asked if Portia knew that, so Curtis wondered what that was supposed to mean.
Over with Portia, she gave Gladys Corbin (Bonnie Burroughs) and Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) updates on Brando now that he was out of surgery. They were able to repair the damage, but there were always concerns after a surgery like this – including the risk of sepsis.
However, Portia argued that was highly unlikely and allowed Brando to have one family visitor at a time. Afterward, Sonny pulled Portia aside and pushed her to be direct with him about the chances of Brando pulling through.
These types of wounds could have complications, but Portia said prayer helps and had every reason for cautious optimism. Since Portia had done so much for Brando, Sonny said breakfast was on him.
Back with Curtis, he wondered if Jordan thought his next marriage wouldn’t succeed or if she just didn’t want it to. Suddenly, Sonny and Portia got off the elevator, so there was some awkwardness with Curtis and Jordan.
After Dante showed up, Jordan wanted to ask Sasha and Gladys a few questions. Sonny said they’d had a rough night and that Jordan would have to make do with him.
Jordan brought up Brando’s history with Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) and was considering Sonny’s other enemies. Sonny seemed to be stonewalling Jordan, so she urged him to stop since Sonny was the only link she could find between Brando and Ava.
Jordan wondered if Sonny’s family was under attack and worried this was just the beginning.
Over with Dex Heller (Evan Hofer), he checked on Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Lexi Ainsworth) after what she witnessed. Dex reflected on having a hard time when he first witnessed action as a soldier, but he hoped Kristina never had to see anything like Brando’s attack again.
Dex got Kristina laughing about an overpriced coffee place before Dante appeared. Dante mentioned that Dex worked for Sonny and clearly didn’t trust the guy.
After Dante noted that Dex was always there when something happened, Dex wondered if Detective Falconeri was accusing him of something. Kristina dragged Dex off for coffee since she could tell things might get heated.
Meanwhile, Sasha sent Gladys in Brando’s room first. Gladys teared up and pushed Brando to open his eyes so he could tell her who did this to him. That way, Gladys could hunt that person down and make them pay.
Back with Sasha, she pushed Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) to tell her that she wouldn’t lose Brando, too. Nina stayed optimistic since Brando had so much to live for – and Sasha was at the top of the list.
Once it was Sasha’s turn, she sat by Brando’s bedside and pushed him to fight for her. Sasha knew Brando was tired and hurting, but she needed him to push through.
After Sasha said she’d do everything she could to get better and expressed her love, Brando squeezed her hand and opened his eyes.
In Portia’s office, she admitted she didn’t get the feeling that Jordan was trying to get Curtis back. Even if Jordan was, Portia asked if that’d change anything for Curtis.
Curtis insisted Jordan was his past and argued that he could never build a future with someone who wasn’t truthful. Portia urged Curtis to consider his feelings if Jordan was honest about everything and asked if he would still be with her.
