General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap review for the week of October 3-7 reveals that Esme Prince (Avery Pohl) and Daddy Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) proved they always steal the show while Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) had a mob boss problem.
They say that absence makes the heart grow fonder – and it certainly feels that way now that Esme is back to stir the pot.
There are always going to be complaints with a character like her, but Esme is a distinctive brand of schemer that GH needs.
Avery Pohl and Jon Lindstrom delivered some fantastic performances as Ryan’s presumed dead daughter revealed her vengeful return to Port Charles.
Lindstrom and Pohl are so skilled at switching between an almost endearing bond to something that’s downright dangerous in a matter of seconds.
When Ryan and Esme are onscreen, it’s impossible to look away!
We can’t wait to see the next chapter of Esme and Ryan’s sneaky plan, especially now that it’s evolved with a secret weapon.
It was fun to watch Esme lurk around as the town eavesdropper as well, so her homecoming has been a welcome one so far.
Oz Haggerty (Max Faugno) became the latest victim of “The Hook,” which was a nice choice on the show’s part.
This attacker needs a body count boost, so getting rid of a guy like Oz makes sense.
We know Oz well enough for it to be exciting, but we don’t know him well enough to care too much that he’s presumably going to die.
That made Oz the ideal candidate to get hooked – especially since it’ll no doubt complicate the case and raise questions about motives.
As for Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) riding to captive Dex Heller’s (Evan Hofer) rescue, that was wonderfully soapy and the perfect next step toward a romance.
The only problem was the writing when it came to Sonny’s mob boss status.
Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and Josslyn kept acting like Sonny crossed some horrific line with the torture, but isn’t this just what mob bosses do?
Shouldn’t Joss and Michael know that’s how mobsters operate – especially when Sonny feared his family was under attack?
To make matters worse, they had Sonny confront “Carver” in the aftermath and claim he didn’t know he was going to use knives to cut Dex up.
Did Sonny just think Carver was going to tickle the truth out of Dex or what? All of that fell flat and seemed too wishy-washy.
Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) revealed that her attacker was a woman, so that let Dex off the hook with Sonny.
However, Dex seemed awfully eager to finish his Sonny takedown job despite Michael’s attempt to fire him, so it’ll be interesting to see if Dex has a deeper agenda.
General Hospital spoilers say Dex will land in some other tight spots soon, so stay tuned.
