Several firefighters work to put out a fire at a restaurant. Their efforts fail when the place explodes. Meanwhile, Robin wakes from a dream where she is being chased by someone on a bike. She heads to the kitchen and talks to her mom. Viola expresses her worry to Robin about the dangers she faces on a daily basis, especially after the kidnapping. She might be used to it but Viola isn’t and her granddaughter is also upset.
Robin meets with a young girl who is trying to find her dad named Jeff. Her dad is a firefighter who is missing. He prevented drinking but has been sober for a while. Robin gets the team to help her track Jeff. She heads to a location where his watch is sending out a GPS signal. When she gets there she finds a homeless man wearing a watch and Jeff’s car across the street all banged up.
Robin heads to see Dante at the scene of a crime. Meanwhile, Harry and Mel look at the local fire station for Jeff. They speak to a fellow firefighter who admits he and Jeff have been arguing but this has nothing to do with Jeff missing. Robin gets a lead on a woman named Angela. She heads to her house just as she is being shot by an intruder. Robin scares off the man and calls 911.
Viola can’t let the kidnapping go, as she works with charcoal to paint a portrait of a woman covering her eyes. Robin heads back to work and learns from Harry and Mel that Angela works as a waitress at a restaurant that recently caught on fire and exploded. She was also recently been spending time with Jeff lately.
Harry gets into Angela’s texts to Jeff. They read all about how Jeff has been abducted and is in a cave. It looks like he got caught up with Angela and her boss Xavier who may have paid someone to burn down his restaurant. Robin calls Jeff’s daughter to ask her if she knows anything about a spot called The Cave. His daughter tells Robin its one of his friend’s houses, Captain Sanders.
Viola goes to the shooting range. She gets upset just talking about guns and why she is there. One of the employees helps her get comfortable. Robin keeps texting her daughter who isn’t answering. Robin tracks down at school. Her daughter is a little irritated. They decide to talk at home.
Mel and Harry find a fresh pile of dirt in the captain’s yard. They dig and just as they are ready they find out what is in the bag they are interrupted by the captain with a gun. Meanwhile, Robin and Dante head to talk to some firefighters who run when they see them. Harry and Mel tell the captain they are looking for Jeff. He doesn’t know what the bag is. They open it and find cash.
The Captain heads to meet Robin and Dante who are questioning a firefighter. The firefighter admits he stole the money from the restaurant, from Xavier, to help the Captain who was at 9/11 and has since been drowning in medical bills for injuries. The firefighter then shares that someone took Jeff after the fire. A criminal has since offered up Jeff for the money. They plan to make the drop.
The firefighter heads to give the criminals their money for Jeff while Robin and Jeff wait outside ready to intervene. An explosion outside sends them both flying into a car parked nearby. Help arrives. Robin and Dante are okay. Sam is reunited with her dad while Xavier loses all of his money. Dante then books him for murder.
Mel and Harry celebrate their victory while Robin arrives home to see an upset Viola. Viola and Robin finally discuss everything that happened. D also sits and finally talks to her mom about how she feels. Robin shares her emotions too and all the crazy dreams she has been having. They hug.
