The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) new job will be revealed, so let’s discuss three great options for Lily Winters’ (Christel Khalil) aimless boyfriend. Billy needs to find a career that will satisfy him so he can finally settle into something he can stick with.
1) Return to podcasting
Of course, one option for Billy would be to return to podcasting. Although that was a boring storyline, Billy clearly loved podcasting and was passionate about it.
The only reason Billy gave up his podcasts was because they were distracting him from the COO job he’s come to hate – the same one that Billy now wants to walk away from.
Getting back into podcasting would be a logical and easy solution for Billy since Y&R’s proven that he enjoyed that career path.
2) Dive bar owner
Another fun option might be for Billy to purchase The Empty Glass, which was that dive bar he used to love hanging out at.
Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) is thriving as the owner of Society, so maybe Billy would thrive as the owner of his favorite watering hole, too.
Billy has no interest in the corporate world, so we have to think outside the box.
There don’t seem to be a lot of career options in Genoa City, but Billy would probably like the chance to run the dive bar and put his own mark on the place.
3) Bring back GC Buzz
One more possibility would be for Y&R to bring back GC Buzz. They could expand on Billy’s podcast skills and just give him a full-blown talk show.
Billy has proven he knows how to be a good host, so maybe he could even be paired up with some lovely lady as a GC Buzz co-host for some complicated flying sparks.
If Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) can find stable ground again, she might work well in that role.
Regardless, Billy needs to find a career that he loves along with a sense of direction.
This whole lost “Billy Boy” thing is getting old, so let’s hope he finds a sense of purpose and can finally shut up about it!
