Y&R fans know Billy tried to make it work in his role at Chancellor-Winters, but his heart just wasn’t in it.
Billy isn’t sure where his true passion lies, but he knows this corporate path won’t lead to fulfillment.
Although Lily will miss working with Billy, she’s accepted his decision and intends to find his replacement herself.
Billy vowed to stick around until after things settled down following the IPO launch, but Lily might let him off the hook sooner.
Now that they’re in a holding pattern, Billy could be granted freedom.
Nate Hastings’ (Sean Dominic) confession was a game-changer, so Lily may think Billy should just go ahead and pursue his passion elsewhere.
Regardless, Lily knows Billy’s exit from Chancellor-Winters is looming and will start thinking about who can slide in that spot.
We can think of an interesting option that would shake things up down the road.
Michael Graziadei will return as Daniel Romalotti Jr. this fall, so maybe the stars will align for him to get a Genoa City job offer.
The show could get some great drama out of having Daniel as Lily’s COO, especially since he’s also her ex-husband and first real love.
Billy might find himself jealous if Daniel takes over his old position and becomes the man Lily spends all her time with.
Daniel studied business once upon a time and has a background in photography as well as art.
Perhaps Lily will decide Daniel is the ideal well-rounded candidate who can bring a good dose of creativity to Chancellor-Winters.
Whatever the case, Nate came on board without corporate experience, so it’s honestly an “anything goes” situation when it comes to who gets hired.
It’s all about who works best for the plot, so Lily may welcome Daniel to the Chancellor-Winters team eventually.
