In tonight’s East New York episode, Detectives Killian was having some money problems when he stole a baseball bat. The bat belonged to a famous baseball player and by trading that bat to his old friend Goody he was able to buy a bar for his girlfriend. It was her dream to always own a restaurant.

She told Killian all about it for years. She didn’t want anything to prevent her from getting her own restaurant and so she silently approved of Killian stealing a famous bat to give to Goody as a down payment. But what neither knew or even suspected was that the bat was a fake. Goody went to go get it appraised. He quickly found out it never belonged to the baseball player and that it was worth seventeen dollars instead of thirty grand.

Goody has now file paperwork against Killian and his girlfriend for fraud. They might lose the restaurant and then it would have been all for nothing. Killian was dealing with this new problem when he and his partner caught a case. There was a girl found on the train tracks.

Her name was Kia Russell. She was a dancer. She was studying modern dancing. She was even a part of a dance group. She was waiting for a train when she got into a fight with someone and they tossed her onto the train tracks. Kia was also missing a button when the detectives found her. Morales said that was a sign she put up a fight before she died.

Killian said that maybe the button was missing before she got to the train station. Only they studied that footage of her from that night. She was composed. She was dressed well. Morales said she wasn’t the type to leave the house with anything out of order and so she went back to her theory.

She said Kia was in a fight. She was working that angle when someone used Kia’s credit card. It was this teenage girl who said she found the card as well as Kia’s bag on the floor at the train station. They asked her about Kia. She said she didn’t do anything to her. She was just taking advantage of the situation. The girl was arrested for using Kia’s credit card, but she didn’t read killer.

Kia’s mom later came to the station. The poor woman came in believing she had to defend her daughter. She came in expecting that she needed to tell people that her daughter didn’t slip and she was reassured that they didn’t believe it was an accident. They told her without telling her that Kia’s was pushed onto the tracks.

They asked her if Kia was in any trouble or had a bad breakup? Her mom said none of that happened. She said her daughter was focused on dance. The detectives looked into that. They couldn’t find anything about Kia other than she was loved by her dance group and circle. And then the detectives learned that other people were attacked at the same train station.

Some teenagers wearing masks were playing the knockout game. The game has been out of style for years, but there was literally footage of these kids randomly punching people and running away. They did this twice. Morales and Killian came to believe that this might have happened to Kia. There was footage of Kia being thrown backward onto the tracks. It could have been a punch that did that. The detectives then decided to lure out these kids. They planted people at that train station. They waited around for kids to show up in masks and they later arrested when they arrived. The kids were twisted. They claimed the knockout game was fun.

But they didn’t read as the killer either. Morales was still looking for a killer when she gave Officer Brandy Quinlan some advice. Brandy was worried about her boyfriend, Officer Andre Bentley. Andre was recently injured. He got shot. He’s now recovering and he’s been released from the hospital. Only he hasn’t called her. Brandy had to nominate herself as the officer that checks up on him just so that she could see him. Andre hasn’t told his parents about her. They were pretty hot and heavy before he got injured and yet Andre didn’t tell her that he was moving back in with his parents or that he was spending time with his family.

He just ghosted Brandy. She went to go visit him at his parents’ place and she felt like an interloper. She ended up making up an excuse to leave. But shame on Andre. The least he could have done was been honest with Brandy if he didn’t want the relationship to work out. Brandy now realizes there’s no hope and she became upset by that. She was doing her best to move on when Morales and Killian closed their case. They traced a rare book found at the subway back to a man at the library. He works there. He was stealing books from the library when he dropped some around Kia. And she was trying to help him.

This angered the guy. He was better with books than people. He pushed her away and he pushed her so hard that she fell onto the tracks and it killed her. And now he was facing serious prison time.

And Deputy Inspector Haywood found out a cop liked to beat up people he arrests. She informed Internal Affairs about it and they dropped it because they were facing undue pressure from one of the police union. Haywood then tried to transfer the guy to desk duty. Only Assistant Chief Suarez made her back down. Haywood now couldn’t touch the officer and he was just going to keep hurting people until he’s stopped.

But Andre changed his mind at the eleventh hour. He showed up at Corrine’s restaurant. She made a deal with Goody that she ran the place and that they were joint owners and so the grand opening without off without a hitch. And Andre showed up and kissed Brandy right in front of everyone.

THE END!
