Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Tuesday, January 31, reveals that Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) welcomed Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) home and got updates on his decision to cut Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) out of his life for good.
After Chad opened up about struggling to let go of Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller), Jack insisted maybe it was time and thought it was what Abigail would want.
Since Jack knew Chad and Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein) had gotten closer, he gave him a push to go pour his heart out to her.
At the Kiriakis mansion on Tuesday’s Days episode, Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) showed up hoping to add Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth) to her legal team – though it really seemed like she came to give Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) a piece of her mind.
Alex assured Paulina that he was already beating himself up over shutting off Stephanie’s phone.
There was nothing Alex could do to fix it, so Paulina talked about the mistakes she made when she gave up Lani Price-Grant (Sal Stowers) and changed so many lives.
Once Paulina reflected on Lani finding it in her heart to forgive her, that gave Alex some hope.
However, Alex pointed out that Stephanie wasn’t taking his calls or answering his messages, so Paulina urged him to plead his case in person.
Afterward, Alex wrote Stephanie a heartfelt note and bought some flowers as he prepared to head to her apartment.
Next on Tuesday’s DOOL show, Stephanie struggled to write Kayla Johnson’s (Mary Beth Evans) eulogy on her laptop before Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) came home.
Steve offered comfort since Stephanie was still upset over Alex making her miss the chance to say goodbye to her mom.
Once Steve assured Stephanie that Kayla knew she loved her, they shared some nice bonding moments as father and daughter.
Steve left for a bit, so Stephanie was alone when Chad showed up on her doorstep with a smile.
In the town square on Tuesday’s Days episode, Gwen acted like the selfless thing to do was take herself out of Jack’s life since she’d caused so much drama.
Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) thought Gwen couldn’t quit Xander, so she admitted he was a factor in her decision.
Gwen still loved Xander, even if he didn’t love her back. Leo argued that Xander indeed loved Gwen, but she felt that he loved Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) more.
Nevertheless, Leo insisted Xander was on the verge of giving up on Sarah and urged Gwen to go claim her prize.
While Leo booked them a room at the Salem Inn, Gwen headed off to see Xander at his own motel room.
Meanwhile, Sarah was already there pushing Xander to sign the divorce papers.
After Sarah made it clear she was done with Xander, she said she wasn’t the man she fell in love with.
Xander pointed out that the compromising Gwen situation was a misunderstanding, but Sarah didn’t think it mattered.
Although Sarah had considered giving Xander another chance, she changed her mind and no longer wanted to be married to him.
Xander pointed out that Sarah liked his bad boy side, so she admitted that danger was part of the attraction at first.
Even so, Sarah just couldn’t deal with all the lies and crimes, so she finally convinced Xander to sign the divorce papers.
Once Sarah was gone, Xander looked frustrated and heartbroken. After Gwen knocked at the door, Xander opened it and planted a passionate kiss on her.
As for Leo, he bumped into Sarah and accidentally knocked the divorce papers out of her hands.
Leo commented on them, but Sarah didn’t think it was any of Leo’s business.
Over with Jack on Tuesday’s Days episode, he crossed paths with Steve and said he was so sorry about Kayla.
In the DiMera secret room, Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (Richard Wharton) put together a makeshift lab using some old equipment he’d stashed away.
Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash) ranted since he didn’t want to be used as a guinea pig again and urged Gabi Hernandez (Camila Banus) to let his feelings resurface on their own.
Dr. Rolf admitted there were some risks when it came to the procedure – including death – but they were negligible.
Gabi liked the odds, so she gave Dr. Rolf the green light to begin the procedure.
After Dr. Rolf put some headphones and electrodes on Stefan’s head, he urged him to remember when he first admitted his love for Gabi in the secret room.
Stefan flashed back to that moment and smiled, so Gabi assumed the deprogramming procedure was working.
Suddenly, Dr. Rolf’s equipment started to spark and go haywire, so Stefan shook like his brain was frying and slumped in his chair.
When Stefan awoke and looked at Gabi, he seemed dazed as he said her name.
Days of Our Lives spoilers say Gabi will hold out hope that the procedure worked, so stay tuned to see what’s in store.
