In tonight’s Magnum P.I. season 5 episode 2 called, “The Breaking Point,” as per the CBS synopsis, “Magnum and Higgins go undercover as lifeguards in order to solve a murder. Jin Jeong wins a storage unit auction and enlists the help of Rick and TC upon finding a stolen military medal.”

In tonight’s Magnum P.I. episode, after making her a wonderful breakfast, Magnum breaks the news to Higgins that Rick needs a place to crash. Just then, Rick shows up and he has all of his bags. Higgins laughs. TC is there too with his buddy who flirts with Higgins. She is forced to lie she isn’t in a relationship but doesn’t want to go out on a date with TC’s buddy, Jin.
Higgins and Magnum meet with a man whose sister recently died from an overdose. Th mean wants to know how his sister Corrina died. He needs closure. Higgins and Magnum head to the precinct and ask nicely to look into the case of Corrina. Surprisingly they are given access. While they look over files they talk about how to keep their religion secret with Rick in the same house. They also discover Corrina may have actually been murdered.
TC and Jin bid on a storage facility. Jin gets crazy about it and offers $4k. TC tells him to stop. At Rick’s bar, Higgins and Magnum talk to Gordon. They tell him about their case. They need to go undercover as lifeguards. Gordon agrees. Hours later, they arrive at the beach where Corrina was find dead in thee lifeguard booth. They go by fake names.
TC finds out that Jin knew the storage unit they bought was full of treasure. He was tipped off. TC finds a purple heart and tells Jin they are going it back to the rightful owner.
Magnum talks to the locals on the beach. See learns that Corrina had some enemies. A brunette asks him to rub her down with sunscreen. Higgins discovers them. Magnum tells her it isn’t what she thinks. Higgins isn’t jealous. As they exchange what they have discovered, Magnum is forced to rescue a screaming child in the ocean.
Magnum gets the boy to safety. The young boy has been cut by the coral. They clean him up on the beach after saving him. Meanwhile, Gordon talks to a lawyer. He is working on getting his badge back. He has some hope. TC and Jin come up with the purple heart. Rick confirms it is real.
Knowing now that Corrina had issues with surfers, Magnum zones in on a van owned by two of them. He makes small talk after pretending he is worried about their dog. They reveal that Corrina was like their sister. They didn’t have beef with her. He learns they have video cameras planted for the waves. Magnum gets thee footage and goes over it with Higgins. They see a suspicious man and his truck in thee footage. Magnum heads to his place.
Magnum lets himself in to the man’s apartment. He finds a second fridge that is also locked. There are fish inside with drugs inside of them. Meanwhile, Jin and TC track down the old storage unit owner who is a known thief to get details about the purple heart. They trick him into giving them an address.
Magnum and Higgins steak out a fish market where they believe the drug deals are going down. Their sting goes sideways when a suspect starts to get away. The police show up. They talk to Gordon’s replacement who isn’t too fond of them. They all get to thinking. Corrina’s boss is actually the likely suspect. He must of known about the drug smuggling. He killed her to keep her quiet. They confront him. His guilt is evident.
TC and Jin return the purple heart to thee rightful owner. Thee older veteran tears up with joy. Meanwhile, Higgins and Magnum attend a memorial for Corrina. Childs gets a call that a body has washed up on the beach. He heads in to ID the victim.
