In tonight’s The Equalizer episode, Robyn’s ex agreed to continue to share custody of their teenage daughter. Miles was threatened into that decision, but he still agreed to do it and so Robyn should have been happy. She didn’t have to give up anything to keep Delilah.
She just needed to find a better work/life balance. Only she’s been having nightmares. She dreams that her work brings dangerous people to her door. She dreams that her family is in danger. She usually wakes up screaming and it was a miracle that no one else has noticed it. Robyn does great job of hiding her distress. She hasn’t told anyone about the dreams. She instead chose to focus on what she could do.
Robyn decided to add to Delilah’s self-defense classes. She enrolled Delilah in boxing as a way of helping her daughter learn the fundamentals and it was actually Detective Dante who helped her pick the right gym. He told her about his buddy, Manny. He and Manny were owners of a boxing gym that Manny runs. Manny was great teacher. He even had a shot at the title once and so Robyn thought he would be a perfect fit for Delilah. And it was just Delilah that disagreed about how good he was.
Delilah hadn’t wanted to take up boxing. She thought learning the fundamentals would be a step backwards. She only agreed to do it after Aunt Vi dropped a couple of words of wisdom.
But Delilah didn’t go into the gym with an attitude. She was being positive about it when Manny gave her a lesson on footwork and he made her do it over five hundred times. He said it would help. Delilah on the other hand hadn’t seen the point of it. She prefers doing things she feel will help now rather than later however she did still tried to do the exercise. And it was a lot harder than it looked.
As for Robyn, she worked a new case. Robyn was contacted by a man who couldn’t remember who he was. He woke up in a dumpster with no wallet or cell phone.
He had been hit over the head. The hit must have been hard enough to cause temporary amnesia because that’s what this guy has. He couldn’t remember anything about his life. He only knew the fundamentals like Nazis are bad, open a door for woman, and he remembered how dangerous guns are because he woke up with one. The guy showed Robyn the gun hoping it would help and she had take it from him.
He was aiming the thing with no clue on how to use it much less know where he got it from. He also assumed it was empty and it wasn’t. It was loaded. Robyn emptied bullets out of it before handing it over to Detective Dante. Dante ran the prints on the gun. It came back for Roy Hayes. It also mentioned his prints wasn’t in the system because of a crime. It could have been anything else. He could be a teacher or was in the military. He was also from Michigan. Robyn ended up taking Roy back to the dumpster he woke up in. They were supposed to look for clues when suddenly a car drive by shooting at them.
They hadn’t gotten hit. But Roy had tried to push Robyn behind him to save her. He didn’t seem like a dangerous guy and that’s what Robyn remembered even as several other clues were pointing towards him committing a murder. Roy’s gun had been used to kill someone six days ago. He arrived in New York six days ago. Roy also learned that he had been at a popular nightclub on the night he lost his memory. He went there where he ran into a prostitute that robbed him. He hadn’t slept with her or anything. He mostly used her for cover because the nightclub he was in was a known tie for organized crime.
Only the prostitute did have his money clip still. She handed it over to Mel after Mel threatened her. The clip had a card from a motel and so they went to the motel where they found a huge bloodstain in Roy’s room. Mel believed he killed someone. She wanted to take him to Detective Dante. It was Robyn who said Roy wasn’t a killer. She asked Mel to hold off on taking Roy to the police. She mostly did that because they still didn’t know who Roy was. Roy’s name as well as background information had all been set up.
Roy was in witness protection. He had witnessed a murder. Rodolfo Martinez had been the killer and he had been sent away. Except he got out. His sentence was vacated and so Rodolfo decided to celebrate by killing Roy’s father. Roy’s real name was Eric Davis. They found out where he got his tattoo and he went to the neighborhood that he instantly recognized. He even found his old house. He saw police tape around it. Mel called Detective Dante and that’s when they found out someone had been murdered in that house. And so the detective sent over a photo of the murder victim.
Eric (formerly Roy) had recognized his dad. He said he was his dad and that helped them to find out Roy was in fact Eric. They also figured out that he came back to New York for revenge. He went to that nightclub because he abducted Rodolfo’s brother, Pedro. He didn’t kill Pedro. He just accidentally shot Pedro in the leg and he threw him in the trunk of a car while he forced Rodolfo to meet with him. It was Eric’s plan to force Rodolfo into a confession. He was wearing a wire and he wanted to send his father’s murderer to prison. And things didn’t go according to plan.
Eric ended up having to run for his life. He threw himself into a dumpster to hide and he hit his head. He forgot about everything until slowly his memories were coming back. He remembered his father. He remembered his dad being a good man and that’s why he risked his life. Rodolfo later tracked him down. He tried to kill him again and Robyn and her friends stopped him. Rodolfo was arrested for attempted murder. And Eric gets to go home to real life in Michigan.
Eric was a father himself and remembering his son was what convinced him to not kill Rodolfo when he had the chance.
And Delilah met a boy at Manny’s gym. She was now interested in boxing and she got to see Manny in action when Manny scared off some neighborhood thug.
THE END!
