In tonight’s FBI International episode, Supervisory Special Agent Scott Forrester was called to a special meeting. He was put in an unmarked car. He had to turn off his cell phone. He couldn’t tell anyone where he was going because he was meeting with Pavel Novikoff. He was a Russian spy that Forrester helped defect to the United States.

Only he thought Pavel would stay in the United States. Pavel gets to travel because the CIA felt they had a use for him. It also didn’t hurt that Pavel enjoyed Europe. He was a European after all. He gets to travel whenever he felt like now that he’s working with the Americans. And he was traveling now because he had to warn Forrester.

Pavel still had his contacts in Russia. It’s probably tied with what he’s doing with the Americans and so he found out Vladislav Pavlovic broke out of his prison. The man was sentenced to a life sentence in Siberia, but he broke out because he still has some unfished business. He still wants to kill Forrester. Forrester killed Vlad’s brother.

He did it as he was helping Pavel defect and it wasn’t anything personal to him only Vlad didn’t see it that way. Vlad could have disappeared after he escaped prison. And instead he chose to come to Budapest because he wanted Forrester dead.

Forrester was given his warning. He would go on to inform his team about the threat. Kellet was the first that became suspicious about everything. She thought it odd that the CIA would use Pavel of all people to warn him. Especially as Pavel was once a spy. She didn’t trust him. She said as much as to Forrester and he told her to focus on Vlad.

They had to stop Vlad. Forrester didn’t want to go running from the guy or change anything about his life. He wanted to take the fight to Vlad and his people had to convince him to take a step back. They said they could look for their perp on their own.

Forrester agreed to go into hiding with Kellet. Only it wasn’t long before they were experiencing a change of a heart and wanting him out of there. They had tracked down Vlad to a train station.

They found his hostage. They just didn’t find Vlad. They missed him by a couple of minutes. Vlad took one of his prison guards hostage by threatening the man’s two sons. He didn’t kill Sergei once Sergei stopped becoming useful because Sergei ultimately didn’t matter to him. The only person he cared about was Forrester. And they weren’t the only ones looking for Vlad.

The Russians wanted him back as well. There were FSB Agents in the city looking for him. Forrester’s team therefore asked him to come out of hiding because they needed him to get into contact with his Russian mob connection. The Bratva were the only people who would still help Vlad even after he got in trouble with the Russian government. Someone was providing him weapons and cash. Pavel theorized it was Bratva. Forrester contacted his old friend Gregor. Gregor had turned over a new leaf since they last spoke.

He was secretly living with his pregnant wife. He didn’t want to get involved in this. Forrester pushed him into reaching out to the rest of the Russian mob because he wanted answers on Vlad. Gregor agreed to do it only he never got the chance to give Forrester the information. Forrester later found Gregor dead on a bench. He had a crucifix shoved in his mouth. Vlad had killed him and Forrester realized Vlad had killed him. And that’s why he decided to stop ignoring the FSB Agents that were following him.

Forrester confronted them. They weren’t talking, but Forrester had his team look into them and it was revealed they were hoping to capture Vlad alive. Vlad had killed several Russian operatives by that point. It made no sense that they wanted him alive in spite of that and so Forrester started believing that Kellet was right when she said something was off about this. Forrester later challenged Pavel. He demanded answers. He once saved Pavel’s life and Pavel knew he owed him. Pavel admitted that the more information he gives to the Americans the less they saw him as a commodity.

The Americans and the Russians were in talks to trade Pavel for Vlad. The Russians wanted their traitor back. The Americans wanted a new source for information. Hence the trade. Pavel was only helping Forrester and his team because he knew he’d be killed if he goes back to Russia. After Pavel came clean, Forrester was trying to figure out what to do next when the alarm at Maya’s bar went off. Her bar was his team’s hangout in Budapest. Maya was also dating Raines. They were in love. He introduced her to his friends. He even set up the alarm at the bar himself. And so Vlad used that.

Vlad abducted Maya. He waited until he saw Forrester and his people at the bar to call the bar. He then asked Forrester to come alone in a tradeoff. Raines hadn’t wanted that to happen. He wanted to see Maya for himself. He wanted to make sure she was okay and so his team worked around him. Forrester actually had to trick him in order to make that meeting. Forrester would later meet up with Vlad. He talked Vlad into trading fists over bullets. And then he cheated by using his own gun to kill Vlad.

Vlad was dead. Maya was rescued. Pavel’s position was safe, but Raines wasn’t talking to any of his team. His only concern was Maya. It was Vlad’s plan to kill Maya the moment he saw Raines because he wanted Raines to watch his girlfriend be killed and so Raines not going was what saved Maya’s life.

THE END!
