In tonight’s The Equalizer episode, Aunt Vi became concerned for a friend. Her friend’s name is Angie. They became friends after Vi hired Angie. The other woman was her masseuse. Vi has been going to Angie since she was giving massages at home and she remained her client even as she joined a wellness center.

Vi has known Angie for so long that she knew something was up when she saw a bruise on her friend. Angie claimed she slipped on her porch, but then her husband stopped by. Angie’s husband Douglas seemed to have no clue how she got the bruise. He acted very concerned for her because the bruise did look bad. And he and Vi both talked Angie into going to the doctor.

Only Vi followed up on that. She found out that Angie never went to a doctor. She also noticed that Angie’s story on how she got the bruise changed when she asked about it the second time. Vi thought something was wrong and so she talked about it with her niece.

Robyn was training Delilah at the time. She told Vi to reach out to Harry and that he could help her look into the situation only they didn’t know it would touch a nerve with Mel. Mel had a friend like Angie once. She ignored all the signs. She thought her friend Tracey had it all. And then Tracey disappeared one day.

Mel never knew what happened to her. She suspected her friend was dead all these years because of her husband and that’s why this situation with Angie hit close to home. Mel, like Vi, suspected Angie was being abused. Vi just wasn’t sure about the husband.

Vi said Doug seemed like a nice guy. He was very attentive. He was a great dad. It simply didn’t make sense that he would be an abuser and yet Mel said he could be such a nice guy because he was overcompensating for something. Mel urged Vi to keep trying to help her friend.

Vi tried to convince Angie to make an official complaint with the police. Vi even told Angie about once being in an abusive relationship herself. She got Angie to open up to her by telling her that story and Angie admitted Doug was abusing her. Doug used whatever situation he could to get angry at her.

He would hit her only Angie said he’s never hit their son. Angie wanted to give her little boy a happy home. She didn’t want to report Doug or come between his relationship with her son because she thought Doug would never hit him.

Angie was in denial about a lot of things. She refused to see that Doug was escalating. She told Vi that she didn’t need help and she had been wrong about that. Doug would suddenly grow a distaste for turkey. He didn’t tell his wife he stopped liking it. There’s a possibility he was just looking for an excuse that night, but he began to beat on her because he claimed she purposely made something he’d hate for dinner. He ignored her excuses that he used to enjoy that meal. He claimed she was always doing things by trying to push him out of the family. And this time their son saw him hit Angie.

Craig was seven. He was beginning to figure out that there was something wrong. He heard the screams that night and he tried to stop his dad from hitting his mom. Doug got so angry at him for interfering that he hit Craig. He then started beating Angie worse than before because he said it was her fault that he hit their son. He almost killed her and that whole night made her realize she needed to leave him. Angie contacted Vi. She told her she needed to get out with her son. Vi said she had everything handled.

The only thing Angie needed to do was pick up her son. Vi would contact Detective Dante. She would bring Dante to Craig’s school so that Angie could make an official complaint and go into hiding right after. Except Angie never picked up her son. She told Vi she would be heading there. The teacher even saw her hanging out in the front waiting for her son and then Angie just up and disappeared. Harry found video from outside the school. He saw that Doug dragged Angie out of there. Doug found out she was leaving him. And he tried to kill her.

Doug’s real name wasn’t Doug. He changed it after his first wife died under mysterious circumstances. She died from a fall on the stairs. Everyone suspected she was pushed and so Doug has killed before. He also got away with it. Doug believes death was the only way any woman would leave him. He tried to kill Angie by sealing her in an oil drum. With her son safe with Child Services, Vi and the others went looking for Angie. They were lucky enough to find her before she died of suffocation.

Angie was put in a hotel under a false name. She had a police guard and everyone thought she was safe. They didn’t know that Doug managed to track them down to the hotel. Doug had put a tracker sealed into the lining of her purse. He wanted to try and kill her again. And this time Vi was there to stop him. Vi was forced to shoot and kill Doug. He will never threaten anyone ever again. And Harry later tracked down Mel’s missing friend. Tracey was still alive. She remarried and has a son. She began posting pictures on social media after her first husband died in prison.

But Dante might be in some trouble. Dante continued looking into the man that shot his friend. He was told to back off by his boss. He refused to do so. He tracked down Lo-Lo to an apartment building. He chased after onto the roof. Lo-Lo tried to jump to the next roof and he missed. He died from the fall. And now things aren’t looking good for Dante.

THE END!
