The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Daniel Romalotti Jr. (Michael Graziadei) and Lily Winters’ (Christel Khalil) future could be in jeopardy. Although Lily and Daniel are on solid ground at the moment, their romance will inevitably be put to the test.
In the July 12 episode, Summer reflects on all the chaos surrounding Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) and delivers a warning to Daniel that could be a hint about what’s ahead.
“Daniel, promise me that you’re not going to let any of this stop you,” Summer insists. “It seems like you’ve got a really good thing going with Lily, and I don’t want to see you screw that up.”
Although Daniel swears to do whatever it takes to hold onto everything and everyone he loves, sometimes it’s not that simple – especially on a soap!
Daniel plans to put some effort into his relationship with Lily so he won’t have any regrets, but that doesn’t mean he won’t end up with regrets anyway.
That’s especially true since Christel Khalil is pregnant in real life and will eventually need to take her maternity leave.
Since the show will have to create an exit strategy for Lily down the road, a relationship blowup with Daniel could set the stage for Khalil’s temporary departure.
It’s easy to imagine Daniel screwing up just like Summer feared and driving Lily away.
Lily might take an extended business trip, but the real reason could be to create some distance and get a break from Daniel.
If Daniel betrays Lily in some way and messes up his second chance with her, it could lead to major trouble.
Daniel could cheat with someone like Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom) since part of him may still be longing for his ex.
Then again, Daniel might be drawn to someone else or even betray Lily in another way entirely.
Y&R always finds creative paths to drama that can drive couples to their breaking point.
Regardless, Summer’s warning feels rather ominous – like maybe her fear about Daniel blowing things with Lily will come true somewhere down the line.
Of course, there’s always a chance Daniel could stray while Lily’s out of town if Khalil’s maternity leave explanation indeed involves an extended business trip.
Maybe the real problems could strike after Lily leaves, so that’s another option to keep in mind here.
