The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Thursday, January 4, reveals that Claire Grace (Hayley Erin) will realize Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) has been talking to her at her bedside and that she brought her some books.
After Claire opens up about her nightmares, Victoria will offer support and suggest that she can see Claire’s courage the more she’s around her.
Although Victoria will insist she’s proud, Claire will wonder how Victoria can even look at her after what happened at the lake house.
Once Claire reflects on the fear and anger she saw in Victoria and Cole Howard’s (J. Eddie Peck) eyes there, she won’t think she could handle seeing it again.
Victoria will try to offer reassurance, but Claire will decide she’s a lost cause. After Claire warns Victoria to leave and never come back, Victoria will suggest that she should let Claire rest.
Claire won’t think Victoria’s listening, so she’ll lash out and start shouting at her to go. Once Claire says she’ll tell the staff not to let Victoria visit, she’ll turn away in tears before Victoria exits.
At Newman Media, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) will struggle with lake house memories before Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) comes in and checks on her.
Audra will have a feeling that she knows what Nikki’s going through and will open up about her father ultimately losing his battle with alcoholism.
Nikki will know it must’ve taken a lot for Audra to share something so personal, but she’ll downplay her issues and act like her family’s working though everything together.
At Society on Thursday’s Y&R episode, Nikki will order a sparkling water with lime and secretly add some vodka from her flask.
Before Nikki can drink it, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) will appear and hope Nikki’s not angry with him for confessing his belief that she was drinking again.
Nikki will admit she’s not thrilled with Nate, but he’ll point out that he acted out of concern and not malice. Once Nikki suggests her family’s supporting her journey, she’ll push Nate to back off.
Back at the office, Victoria will ask how Nikki’s doing before her mom offers updates on her encounter with Nate.
Victoria won’t be surprised that Nate was caring since she’ll believe he’s a good man despite all the naysayers.
Nikki will sense that Victoria’s rattled, so Victoria will explain that it’s because of her rocky visit to the psych ward. Victoria will admit she’s worried about losing Claire for good this time.
At Crimson Lights, Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) will lie to Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) about discussing Marchetti’s new fashion line with Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case).
After Summer takes off, Chance will quiz Sharon since he’ll assume they were actually talking about him.
Sharon will sidestep Chance’s questions before ultimately asking a surprising one of her own.
If they weren’t dating and Summer asked Chance out, Sharon will ask if he would be interested.
Chance won’t even know how to answer a hypothetical like that and will wonder where this is coming from.
It’ll seem like Sharon might be trying to provoke a response, so Chance will ask if this is her sneaky way of ending things between them.
Sharon will assure Chance that she likes the way things are, but she also isn’t looking for a serious relationship.
Chance will let Sharon know that he’s on the same page and that he’s right where he wants to be, so they’ll share a kiss.
At Daniel Romalotti Jr.’s (Michael Graziadei) place, he’ll see right through Summer’s fake excuses for stopping by.
Daniel will suspect this is about Chance, so Summer will find it embarrassing that so many people can tell she’s got a crush.
After Daniel mentions his own romantic mess, Summer will get him to admit Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom) might be trying to start something up again.
Daniel will claim he was clear with Heather about being with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) now, so Summer won’t think he has anything to worry about.
As long as Daniel isn’t sending mixed signals, Summer will act like Heather probably won’t try anything else with him. That “mixed signals” comment will leave Daniel looking a little guilty.
Summer will get why Heather would want to put her family back together and will acknowledge her history with Daniel.
However, Summer will think her situation is different since she’s never dated Chance before.
That said, part of Summer will wonder if her feelings might be reciprocated. Summer will mention that Sharon and Chance seemingly haven’t discussed a future together.
Daniel will think that sounds similar to where things stand in his relationship with Lily, so Summer will think that’s why Heather is testing the waters.
In the end, Summer will decide to just “screw it” and do the same thing with Chance.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Summer seems ready to make a bold move, so stay tuned to see the surprising news that’ll lead to.
