The Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: Is B&B Too Marriage Obsessed – Premature Proposals Are a Problem?

The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers reveal that all the drama surrounding Hope Logan’s (Annika Noelle) latest proposal rejection highlights what could be a bigger problem on the show.

Is B&B too marriage obsessed? Sometimes it seems like characters forget they can have a real relationship without racing to the altar.

There’s always a lot of talk about commitment, but can’t there be a happy medium between casually hooking up and saying marriage vows? Isn’t dating a thing anymore?

The show has a habit of premature or ill-advised marriage proposals – like that time Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) popped the question to both Brooke Logan (Katheine Kelly Lang) and Katie Logan (Heather Tom) on the same day!

Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) thankfully seems to have learned his lesson about rushing into marriages, but there was a time when it felt like he was proposing to women nonstop.

We can’t forget about Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan), who proposed to Brooke when he wasn’t even a couple with her.

Deacon also secretly proposed to Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) knowing that it could make things so much worse if anyone found out.

It was an unnecessary complication that created more stress for Deacon.

We won’t be surprised at all if RJ Forrester (Joshua Hoffman) is next in line to propose too soon.

RJ may ask Luna Nozawa (Lisa Yamada) to marry him despite the fact that they’ve barely done more than kiss at work and have a couple nights together at the beach house.

Instead of taking the time to focus on building real relationships, B&B often likes to show off a dazzling diamond and pressure another female character into tying the knot.

Of course, there are some exceptions like with Donna Logan Forrester (Jennifer Gareis) and Eric Forrester (John McCook) since their wedding was long overdue, but many other couples seem forced down a marriage path and spread engagement news too early.

By pumping the brakes on Thomas Forrester’s (Matthew Atkinson) wedding pressure, Hope was actually making a positive choice that should be celebrated.

It’s a sign of character growth that shows Hope’s learned from her divorce from Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) and doesn’t want to repeat the same mistakes.

Unfortunately, B&B isn’t framing the story that way at all.

They’re making Hope look like a villain when there would honestly be fewer divorces, annulments and broken engagements if more characters would adopt that same mentality.
