The even sadder news is as the cop series goes on summer hiatus, Season 7 is not expected on the ABC fall schedule, so fans will have to wait until early 2025 before they get to sink their teeth into more drama.
This show is infamous for season finale cliffhangers, and as the show will want to keep fans engaged until The Rookie’s return next year, viewers should brace themselves for a doozy at the end of Season 6.

The Rookie, Season 6, Episode 10 (the finale) is titled, “The Escape Plan” and spoilers reveal that Sgt. Wade Grey (Richard T. Jones) will help the team prep for their biggest mission to date.
Added teasers note that Smitty (Brent Hoff), Tim Bradford (Eric Winter), Celina Juarez (Lisseth Chavez), Angela Lopez (Alyssa Diaz), and Aaron Thorsen (Tru Valentino) find a stunning link in their case.
Meanwhile, The Rookie’s showrunner, Alexi Hawley recently conducted an interview with TV Insider, talking about the end of Season 6. Hawley stated, “I think there’s both great hope and a cliffhanger sort of at the end of the season.”
So, Hawley doesn’t offer a lot of hints on what fans should expect during The Rookie’s Season 6 finale, other than “hope and a cliffhanger”; however, the end of the episode will likely leave fans with more questions than answers.
Still, when it comes to Lucy Chen (Melissa O’Neil) and Tim, and the hug they shared in Episode 9, leading up to the finale, Hawley hints that fans “will see them sitting in a shop together, in a police car together for the first time. There might be some high-stakes lifesaving going on.”
