In tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy episode, Firefighters were scrambling to combat the largest fire in Seattle’s history. The fire was heading towards the city. The hospital was dealing with the victims of the fire and so it was all hands on deck. Teddy wasn’t sure if she should also go in. Catherine had fired her.

She sorta blacked out after that. She didn’t know if she was just fired as Chief of Surgery or if she was fired as a surgeon as well. Owen told her to still go in because the hospital was about to be flooded. The rest of the staff was called in and the interns were also brought in. Lucas had interviewed at a hospital in Chicago. They were willing to accept him as a second year resident. It would be a step up from Seattle.

Back in Seattle, Lucas was told he had to redo his first year as an intern. He would be behind his class. His first year wouldn’t even get to count and so he was considering all of his options.

He liked that Maggie had headhunted him for the role in Chicago. She saw a spark in him for Cardio. She was willing to help him nurture that. Luke should have jumped at the offer under normal circumstances and the only reason he didn’t was because of Simone. He won’t say it’s Simone but it’s Simone. He’s in love with her.

She’s in love with him. They would still be together if she hadn’t asked for space to “figure” things out. Lucas wasn’t a priority for her and that’s why he called it for their relationship.

He wanted to be a priority. He wanted Simone not to toy with him then go back to her fiancé. Or ask him to be the best man at her wedding just to call it off and give him mix signals. Simone was a little bit of mess. Lucas has tried to love her throughout it. He was now tired of getting burnt for doing so. Lucas has taken their break well in the sense that he had upped his game.

He was focusing on his year as an intern. He was doing well with the surgeons. He was figuring out his future. He even took the fire at the gates far more seriously now than he did before.

He was the first to realize they could use an app to help track victims of the fire. It would also help people find each other if they were forced to evacuate due to the fire. Most of the hospital was cleared of people in good condition. Dorian had also gotten discharged. He’s been in the ICU for the longest and he was finally getting released. Everyone was so happy for him.

They were cheering him until they filled in at over the capacity. They were running out of pain meds. Theo Ruiz was brought in and he was rushed to surgery. He was a firefighter.

He was also a close friend of Bailey’s and her husband. Bailey was told she couldn’t perform surgery on him because it would be like she was performing on family. There were rules against that. Teddy took over instead. She was about to rush him into surgery when Catherine saw her with a patient. And she reminded Teddy that she no longer works at the hospital.

Catherine was being really petty about the whole thing. Owen called her out on it. He said that there were too many patients for her to worry about her ego. Teddy was a qualified surgeon and Theo would die without her. Catherine reluctantly allowed Teddy to go ahead with the surgery.

Only she got payback in another form. Catherine had a meeting with Meredith and Amelia. She told them that she wouldn’t fire them or destroy their research if they gave it to Tom Koracick. They technically composed their research with money from the Fox Foundations and that meant the foundation owns it.

Catherine owns it. She was willing to be the face for breakthrough research. She just didn’t want them to get the credit for it. This was their punishment. They do all the hard work and Koracick was the one to bring it home. They were also told they would be fired if they didn’t hand over their work.

Teddy could get her job back if they agreed and so they genuinely had to consider Catherine’s offer. Richard spoke with Meredith. He told her that he was done with surgery. He just didn’t tell her why. He performed surgery with two interns and he made a mess of what he did.

Winston had that patient after him. He thought the interns were the ones to make the mess. Richard was just too embarrassed to admit it was him and not them.

Bailey also had to step away from surgery. She was so worried about her husband the firefighter that she couldn’t focus on anything else. Simone used the database that Lucas put together to find Ben out in the fire. He was fine. Bailey didn’t have to worry about him. She could finally focus on the many patients that need her help.

Teddy was able to save Theo’s life. He was now in a room for post-op. Schmitt was in the NICU when Jo passed out. He gave her some juice and did some blood work. It turns out Jo is pregnant. The test that she took a few weeks back was a false negative. She was pregnant and she didn’t even realize it.

She now has to figure out how she’s going to tell Link. They both decided after the scare that they wanted to hold off on trying for another baby. Link eventually heard she passed out. He went to check on her. And Jo couldn’t tell him the truth, she lied to him by saying she was fine.

Richard did come clean about the mess with Winston. The patient later died from his injuries and the interns weren’t blamed for it, but then they got their ABSITE scores.

They all passed. Lucas had the highest score of his class. Which will help choose his future hospital. The other interns all spoke up for Lucas. They convinced Catherine he deserved to finish with the rest of the class. They decided to talk to Catherine because Lucas was too good of a doctor to give up. And even Bailey helped them with Catherine.

Meredith meanwhile published her findings online. She didn’t care about getting fired. She wanted control of her research and she wasn’t giving that up. Both she and Amelia made the decision. They were fired alongside Teddy. Owen also got fired because Catherine didn’t like his tone. The upside to the whole thing was that Meredith grew to be closer to Nick. She was finally ready to move in with him.

And they all said goodbye to Dorian who finally got to leave the hospital.

THE END!
