General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Monday, July 1, reveals that Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) complained to Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) about budget issues until Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) interrupted in his office.
Alexis informed Nina that she was quitting at The Invader since she didn’t have a contract and had just gotten her law license back.
Although Nina was miffed at first, she was ultimately glad to be rid of Alexis and left to give Adrian DeWitt (Dieterich Gray) the editor-in-chief position instead.
After a business trip, Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) found Drew later and got confirmation that the rumblings she heard about him running for Congress were true.
Once Drew assured Jordan that he was serious about this, she pushed him to get out there and start campaigning.
Nina returned as Jordan was leaving and heard her call Drew “Congressman Quartermaine” based on the name change plan he told Jordan about.
Drew explained everything to Nina, who vowed to support him at The Invader and even hinted about becoming his campaign manager.
Although Drew was skeptical about why Nina would want to help him, she acted like Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) would approve and admitted Drew was a better choice than his opponent.
In Ava Jerome’s (Maura West) suite at the Metro Court, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) stopped by with a work-related delivery and became uncomfortable as Ava pushed her for dirt on Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).
Ava thought Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) must’ve spilled something she could use in the custody battle that was brewing, but Trina insisted Joss didn’t talk about Sonny.
Later, Adrian showed up at Ava’s door and seemed skeptical of the scoop she was offering.
Ava hinted that this was about Blaze aka Allison “Allie” Rogers’ (Jacqueline Grace Lopez) mother and pointed out that she’d already sent Adrian an audio file.
Once Adrian played the recording, he heard Natalia Ramirez’s (Eva LaRue) terrible comments about gay people and Blaze’s relationship with Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi).
Adrian was delighted, so Ava assured him that he could use everything just as long as her own name was kept out of it.
Ava didn’t want to be tied to this at all, so Adrian was OK with that and planned to release the story tonight since Alexis was no longer there to stand in the way.
At the Metro Court pool on Monday’s GH episode, Sonny spoke to Josslyn and hoped she wouldn’t badmouth him to Giovanni “Gio” Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza).
Josslyn acted like she learned her lesson with Kristina and wouldn’t try to influence Gio.
If Gio learned the truth about Sonny, then it would be because of something Sonny himself did.
Trina spoke to Josslyn afterward about Ava’s request and all the custody chaos that was bubbling up.
Josslyn admitted she thought Avery Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola) was better off with Sonny – and Trina confessed she was starting to see the version of Ava that Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) once talked about.
After Ava spied from her balcony and saw that Sonny was there with Avery, she popped up at the pool next.
Josslyn encouraged Gio to take Avery downstairs for ice cream, so he whisked her away.
Sonny insisted he didn’t want to see Ava’s face anymore, but she warned that she could do far worse than he could imagine if he tried to take Avery away.
When Sonny asked if that was a threat, Ava said it was a promise and reminded him of what she was capable of.
Since Sonny’s own history with the law was worse than Ava’s, she didn’t think he wanted her stirring up trouble.
At Kristina’s place, she got weepy over her hormones not knowing the baby was supposed to go to Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos) and TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow), so Alexis held her and offered support.
At Deception, Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms), Lois Cerullo (Rena Sofer), Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) and Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) all gathered for a meeting about the latest addendum to Blaze’s contract.
Natalia was her usual snooty self as she joined the meeting – and Blaze was also on hand as Maxie and the others tried to iron out the details for the fourth time.
After Natalia looked at the contract updates, she once again had complaints.
Maxie’s phone kept making noise since she got an alert every time Deception was in the news, so she finally looked at it and got a shock.
There was a “Face of Her Daughter Deception” story that included Natalia’s recording and all the horrible things she’d be caught saying.
General Hospital spoilers reveal that Natalia is going to face major backlash, so we’ll bring you more predictions on the aftermath of Ava’s dirty move.
