In tonight’s The Bachelorette episode, there were three guys at the start of tonight. They were all vying for Jenn’s hand in marriage. They’ve all either said they love her or are falling for her. Which is a lot for these three.

They were all struggling with pain and doubt. They were also good guys. Marcus was a great guy. He allowed himself to be vulnerable with Jenn. He told her all about his life in foster care.

How his parents abandoned him and his sister one day. He told her that he was a looking for a home and she could be that for him. Then there was Jonathan. Jonathan built a wall around his heart after a previous heartbreak and it took him ages to finally discuss his feelings. And he did so with Jenn because she was his safe space.

As for Devin, he’s always been exactly what Jenn needed him to be. She would ask for these crazy things on group dates as well as solo dates and he’s always just ridden with it. He was the funny guy when she needed to laugh. He never wavered in his commitment to her because he could see that she struggled with abandonment.

He understood that because his own relationship with his father has always been rocky and so he knew exactly where Jenn was coming from and didn’t let her pull away. The three guys that were left were all great in their own special way.

It was going to be hard to choose just two of them. Only Jenn still needed to do it. Jenn went into tonight optimistic. They were in beautiful Hawaii. She was already dreaming about getting engaged on one of the amazing beaches, but she did have doubts. She reached out to Bachelor alum, Molly. Jenn wanted some advice.

She wanted to know when to give up and when to push for more. She likes Marcus and she sorta feels like she’s pouring her feelings into him. She felt as if she was fighting for the relationship while he wasn’t.

Jenn felt the same for Jonathan. It took a lot of effort to get him to admit he’s falling for her. He barely wanted to do that much. With Devin, it was different. She felt like Devin was the great guy for her and she was worried about self-sabotaging. She wasn’t used to being with such a great guy. He was always there to support her.

She just didn’t know why she felt like pushing him away. Jenn hasn’t fully dealt with her childhood trauma and it shows. She was hurting. She was also pushing some of that hurt on the one person she knows wouldn’t hurt her back.

Devin had the first overnight date with Jenn. They took a helicopter to see Hawaii from up above. They laughed together because Devin is a permanent jokester. Devin offered Jenn consistency.

She loved that. She even said as much. Devin also said that their experience with the show has been dating to the extreme and how he couldn’t wait to have real world experiences with her.

He wanted to experience getting married. Having kids. Devin has never had a normal family life. He wanted that now as an adult and he pictured a family with Jenn.

He wants to marry her. He wants to buy a house with her. He wants it all. Jenn was hearing him say all the rights things and she was still wavering. She wasn’t being dishonest with Devin in the meantime though. She told Devin she has a hard time accepting his love. She told him she was afraid of sabotaging what they had.

He was everything she wanted and she wasn’t sure if she could tell him she loves him. In her past, it’s always been the guys she chooses that hurts her. Jenn was worried she’d be the one to hurt Devin and so she was scared about that.

Jenn still spent the night with Devin. Their night together was a pivotal moment. It helped her realize that she does deserve love. She was gaining confidence as Devin was losing his.

Devin has had girlfriends cheat on him before. He wanted to know that what he has with Jenn was special. He didn’t want to hear that she has this great moment with the other two guys. It made him feel like he was about to be abandoned again and that was a trigger for him. Devin was scaring himself even as Jonathan was feeling good about his relationship with Jenn.

Jonathan had the second overnight date. The two of them went to the waterfalls. They had a date there. They got to go for a swim and it showed off that both of them were physically fit. It’s when they got into the water that things got interesting. Jenn couldn’t wait to kiss Jonathan. She couldn’t wait to cuddle with Jonathan. She didn’t let any doubts about him fester. Jenn wasn’t doubting what she had with Jonathan because it took her forever to get him to admit he was falling for her. She put in the effort. She put in the time. She was now reaping the rewards.

Jenn got swept away by the romantic moment. They made out in the water. They made out back on land. Jenn also told Jonathan what she wants for herself. She wants to fall in love. She wants to get married. She wants to one day teach her children about their Vietnamese culture and Jonathan said he couldn’t wait to learn Vietnamese. To cook Vietnamese. He took a few moments more to get there only now he’s invested. He’s talking about a future with Jenn. He was finally giving her what she needed and they celebrated their night together in the Fantasy Suite.

Jonathan has achieved the clarity he needed. He spent a wonderful night with Jenn. They were both considering a future together. Which Devin wasn’t sure he had anymore.

Devin poured his heart and soul into his relationship with Jenn. Then to hear her say that she wasn’t convinced after everything just made him question their relationship. He doesn’t feel like the one. He feels like one of and he technically was. Jenn was dating two other people. He knew that. He simply didn’t feel that way until he told her he loved her and she told him she wasn’t there yet.

Jenn wasn’t there with anyone. Sure, she had spent the night with two incredible guys. She told the cameras that Devin was better than Pete Davison in every way and it was funny because everyone always compares Devin to Pete. It was also funny because Pete might be the dumpster fire ex that broke Jenn’s heart.

Anyways, Jenn didn’t know how Devin was feeling. Devin was trying to work on himself and Jenn was off to the next date. She had her final overnight date with Marcus. Marcus and Jenn had a strong connection from the first night.

Jenn cares for Marcus. It just didn’t stop her from hesitating with Marcus. They both agreed they were falling for each other on Hometowns and now Jenn was worried if she was carrying the weight of their relationship alone. She claims she wants a future with someone. The problem was that she wasn’t fully ready for that.

It’s why she’s picking people that she either won’t commit to or people she knows won’t commit to her. She took Marcus scuba diving. They got to see the underwater world of Hawaii.

The night didn’t shift until they had dinner together. Marcus basically told her that he couldn’t say “I love you” right now. He doesn’t want to hurt her. It’s why he was honest with her that he’s not sure about his feelings for her. He knows what he’s supposed to feel. He doesn’t know what he really feels.

He told Jenn and Jenn admitted she was in love with him. It was the first time she said the words. It was a little emotionally manipulative on her end. She said it to force Marcus to admit where he is in terms of commitment. He told her he cares for her.

Marcus also told her that he needed time to know how he really feels about her. It didn’t stop Jenn from kissing him or spending the night with him. He should have gone home that night, but she ignored the warning signs. She did that with Marcus and with Devin. Devin realized he kept giving and he wasn’t getting anything back.

He loves her. She wasn’t in love with him. She said she’s falling for him. She also said she wasn’t sure if she could trust in Devin’s love for her and so she’s more or less used him to gain confidence. And he was left feeling emotionally drained by her.

Devin spoke to Jesse about where his head was and Jesse told him to talk to Jenn.

Devin later went to Jenn’s hotel room to talk to her about his mindset.

THE END!
