The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) suddenly have a problem on their hands since their beloved nanny is quitting. Petra had a wonderful connection with Aria Porter-Copeland (Millie and Maddie Ingle), so Tessa and Mariah have big shoes to fill.
Although Mariah and Tessa asked Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) to consider becoming their new nanny, Claire said she’d have to think about it.
Since Claire is leaning toward working with Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) in the not-too-distant future, she can’t really commit to a long-term nanny stint. It seems like Claire may have to turn Tessa and Mariah down, so what are they going to do?
It’s possible Claire will still babysit here and there until Aria’s parents can find a full-time Petra replacement. Of course, it’s also easy to imagine Mariah and Tessa leaning on Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) a bit more in the coming weeks.
Maybe Sharon will insist she’d love to have some extra grandma time since she’s trying to paint this picture of being perfectly fine.
Since Sharon wants everyone to believe she’s turned the corner in her recovery, it makes sense for her to watch Aria and do all the things she loves to do when she’s behaving normally.
However, Y&R fans know Sharon is still dealing with major mental health issues. Sharon has full-blown conversations with a version of deceased “Cameron Kirsten” (Linden Ashby) she’s hallucinating, so this isn’t a woman who should be taking care of a little girl!
Nevertheless, there must be a reason why Y&R came up with this abrupt nanny departure and put Aria’s moms in a bind. Sharon has hidden her trail in the Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom) investigation so far, but her cover-up may fall apart down the road.
What if that happens while Sharon is watching Aria? Perhaps Sharon could realize the cops are coming for her and panic somewhere down the line.
For example, Sharon might be in her car when she gets a troubling phone call from Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd). Chance might be onto Sharon by then, so she could figure that out from his tone and bolt with Aria in her car seat.
Sharon could kidnap Aria as she goes on the run and make this mess even worse. Then again, Sharon might convince herself that Aria is the only family member who won’t judge her once the truth comes out.
Maybe Sharon could decide to run away with Aria since she represents a loving clean slate. Aria is too young to have a clue about any of this, so Sharon is just the grandmother Aria loves right now.
Sharon might cling to that in her fractured mental state and snatch Aria as the drama takes another stunning turn. Regardless, the fact that Aria suddenly doesn’t have a nanny could be a plot point that’ll tie in with Grandma Sharon’s story sooner or later.
