In tonight’s The Equalizer episode, the vigilante team hasn’t been the same since last spring. Detective Dante was given a great promotion. It was unfortunately in California.

He got assigned to an FBI taskforce there and he had to take it. His boss threatened to derail his career if he didn’t take it. She wanted him gone and belonging to the taskforce would be great for his career. The downside of it was that Dante left at the same time as Mel. Mel was abducted from her Veterans Support Group.

She thought she was helping someone in trouble when really the man was out for revenge. He thought Mel killed his loved ones. She didn’t actually do the crime and still she had to watch some lost kids die for their mistake. And so Mel took time off for her mental health.

The vigilante group was down to two. Robyn and Harry. Mel was getting better with every day, but she still wasn’t ready to go back into the field and so the two carried the weight of everything on their own. Robyn also received some occasional help from her ex-husband.

Miles went through a second divorce with the most recent wife. Robyn’s love interest just moved to California. Miles and Robyn were currently circling around each other. They were getting along much better now that they were both single. Miles also wanted to be a part of the vigilante work.

Robyn didn’t want to get him involved. They share a daughter. Robyn has come close to death a little too often and she didn’t want to leave Delilah an orphan.

Back when they were fighting, Miles had actually demanded she give up the vigilante work because he thought it was too dangerous for their daughter to be around.

He only changed his mind when he divorced the second wife. It’s funny how that second divorce changed everything. Robyn in the meantime did the work. She was contacted by Sara Neal.

Sara was an unlicensed foster mom. She found kids living on the street. She’d take them in and do her best to support them. She was a foster kid herself. She survived through horrific abuse.

She wanted to rescue kids from the same system. She currently had eight kids living at her home. The state doesn’t know about it. She’s not getting money to take care of them. Money was therefore tight around the house. One of her kids saw a grocery truck. He hotwired it. His sister acted as a lookout and they stole the truck.

They thought they were helping Sara with free groceries. But the truck wasn’t full of groceries. It was actually full of weapons. The truck was used in an arms smuggling ring and someone screwed up. They left the truck unattended. It got stolen. Kevin had it. His sister Randi disappeared.

It turns out the men that own the guns had grabbed Randi and they told Kevin he had until eight that night to return the weapons or they’ll kill Randi. Randi and Kevin were all the family they had. They lived with abusive foster parents until the CPS found them something new. And that something new meant splitting them up,

The siblings chose to live on the street after that. They were found by Sara. Sara gave them a roof over their head and food to eat. She just had a few rules. They couldn’t have weapons. They also had to come back to the house by the curfew. When Sara didn’t hear from Randi, she contacted the equalizer to find the girl.

She knew that Randi wouldn’t run off leaving her brother. Sara just didn’t expect that Kevin would keep such a big secret from her. Robyn got the truth out of him. They also have a bigger problem because the city seized the supposed grocery truck from where Kevin parked it.

The grocery truck was now in the NYPD impound lot. They would have to pay fines as well as go to court to get that truck back. Robyn tried to solve the matter by finding Randi, but she was too late. Randi has been moved to a secret location that Harry couldn’t find. They also accidentally alerted the man in charge that Robyn was now involved in the case.

Diego Sueño told her that Kevin broke the rules when he brought in adults. They now had until three pm to give him the truck or he’ll kill Randi. Robyn was scrambling to get that truck back when Kevin made things worse.

Sueño contacted Kevin again. He told them that he’d let Randi go in exchange for Kevin. Only that was a bunch of bull. Sueño was never going to let Randi go. Kevin fell for the lie and now the bad guys have two hostages. Robyn needed that truck back really badly. She even contacted Dante for help.

Dante didn’t have any contacts in the impound lot and so he wasn’t of any help. Robyn ended up getting the truck by herself with the help of a sandwich. She found the officer in charge of the impound lot’s favorite sandwich. She used that to gain access to the truck.

Dante did come in handy eventually. He found out that the people looking for the guns were really dangerous. They were cartel. ATF were investigating them. Sueño wasn’t even in charge.

He was the middleman in charge of the guns. He lost them and so he was later killed by the real boss. Robyn had gotten the truck back only she didn’t want to hand them over to dangerous people. She instead tracked down where the siblings were being held. She was helping them escape when they got cornered. Robyn was knocked out. And she was taken hostage.

Kevin and Randi got away. Which helped in the end. Robyn later woke up tied to a chair. She managed to break her restraint. She was running off when Kevin and Randi picked her up in a car they hotwired.

The kids saved Robyn’s life. She rewarded them by getting them back to Sara. She also donated a healthy sum to Sara. The woman can now take better care of the kids she protects. And Robyn now knows she couldn’t go alone to these things, she needs backup.

Mel couldn’t be that backup. She was traumatized just by looking at a gun. She wasn’t going to be ready to go back into the field anytime soon and for now she has to take care of herself.

Robyn may have survived tonight, but now she was on a hit list of a cartel and they still got their guns back. She was still bruised when Miles saw her at the house. He stitched her up. Miles wants his family back. He made that clear to Aunt Vi and so he was finally willing to be the man that Robyn needs.

THE END!
