It’s not easy going from the A-list to the C-list, but at least former ‘NSync man-doll Lance Bass still has famous friends like Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears to make him at least slightly press-worthy.
The frosty-tipped singer has spilled his guts to GQ magazine in a revealing new interview, in which he tells of his desperation to regroup with Timberlake (who he also says dreamed of starring in a gay movie), the fact he originally came out of the closet to Spears, and that he’s reached out to help the troubled pop-tart during her custody woes.
Bass tells the magazine he hopes his morefamous ex-bandmate, Timberlake, will some day come to the aid of the rest of the now floundering ‘NSync crew, who split their time between making appearances on Dancing with the Stars and crying into their half-melted banana splits.
“I’m proud of him (Timberlake). There’s no anger, but there’s disappointment. We were starting to get respect – and Grammy nominations. And he kind of took that respect to get past the boyband stigma,” Bass tells GQ. “Hopefully, he’ll throw us a bone and do another ‘NSync album or a song, because the rest of us loved it. It was our life – touring, making albums.”
Bass, who came out as homosexual last year, also reveals he thought most of the band was actually gay.
“We thought Justin was gay, because he told us he wanted to do a gay part in a movie,” he explains. “We thought Chris (Fitzpatrick) was gay because he used to hang out with a choreographer.”
Turns out, that was all just wishful thinking for Bass, who also dropped Spears’s high profile name as the person he first admitted his man-loving tendencies to while she was going through the media storm following her brief marriage to Jason Alexander in 2004. “I felt bad for her. I knew she was about to go through a lot of crap. I felt the need to share something,” Bass tells the men’s magazine. “So I sat her on my bed, and I’m like, ‘Well, I’m gay!'”
Spears remains Bass’s next door neighbour, but it seems the two have drifted apart since their days of girl-talk. The former ‘NSyncer says he’s recently tried to reach out to her during her personal struggles, but hasn’t had any of his calls returned. “I tried. She’s my neighbour in Beverly Hills. She lives next door. I tried to get in touch with her – I wanted to be that friend to help her,” he reveals. “I don’t think she’s having any of her old friends anymore.” Source
